Super Stock in the lanes for Class.

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Super Stock in the lanes, sorry folks there is no sound. Randi Lyn should have another video later on today, her narrations are the best.
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Check out the video of Bo Butner against David Barton. Both cars spun, it was a pedal fest. Bo gets the win, mov was .0004 at the stripe.

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Who else got tossed in the barn?

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
I was told 4 had to pull a piston & rod. Two passed, two did not. The two Trumble/Sherman engines passed. Don't know who built the two that failed.

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Thanks everyone for keeping us up to date. Love the pics and info.
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Matt Antrobius was tossed for being 4 grams light on the rod. I heard the other car had some crankshaft issues.

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Just got official word that due to rain, the Factory Stock Showdown final and Hemi Challenge final have been moved to Saturday. The rest of Friday's schedule is still on hold. We might be here a while tonight.
more later....much later, err tomorrow. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Anyone else surprised by one car on SS/DA? When was the last time that happened?

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
They pulled the plug on today's racing an hour or so ago. We have been to the Skillmans and Teutons tonight for a little socializing. Here are a couple of pics:

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
I'm broke and will be in the stands watching round one, but that's racing.
I have to congratulate all the class winners, Kentucky runners Clay and Thomas Arnett with Shane Smith on the # 1 spot in Stock. A big thanks to all of the hard working tech people, there work makes it mean something to be a NHRA Stock or Super Stock racer. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
A couple of quick notes from the first round of Stock.
Bo Butner, who will race later in the Factory Stock Showdown final, won on a single after Gary Emmons broke. Emmons owns Butner's old car. Bo's opponent, Kevin Skinner is also in after round one. David Barton aired out his FS/X Dodge with an 8.73, 150. Chris Holbrook also made one of the quickest Stock passes to date with an 8.448. Have to wonder what either of those cars will run at the Dutch Classic, Indy Open, or anywhere else the air is prime. Last year's winner, Bruno Massel, lost when he spun the tires. more later... |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Does anyone know why there was a change to the Stock ladder this morning prior to first round?
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Quote:
Best guess, it was changed to remove anyone who was bounced in Tech. Also heard that at least one driver officially "withdrew" from the event, which would be different from simply being a no show. Haven't heard any of this officially, but that's my guess. Also, happy to see some of the alternates get in, especially Ben Wenzel's '67 Z-28. Wouldn't be Indy without that car in the eliminator. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Lew, where did you see that there was a change in the ladder ? Numerous alternates got in due to breakage or other problems. Interesting that one of the Emmons got in as an alternate and had to run his opponent Heads Up. Nothing like heading to the lanes and not being prepared for a Heads Up run. ....M.J.

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Thanks, Kevin!
I'm sure there's a story here somewhere! And thank you for your excellent reporting!! "Almost like being there!!" :D Lew |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
way to go Sheila Mae Holt.... taking out T Patterson in the first round

In my limited experience, once the ladder is set, anyone who is unable to "make the call" is listed as a "No Show" and their scheduled opponent is given a competition single. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Not this time...... Jimmy D was supposed to run the Hill's but ran against a V/SA Alternate. There were no competition singles posted at all.
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Lew, it's Indy and the alternates are waiting at the end of the staging lanes . If a scheduled opponent does not show up an official places an alternate in his or her place. There are No competition singles when an alternate is available. M.J.
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
No-shows only happen when there are no alternates available!
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Thank you for the clarifications! Makes much more sense the way you've explained it!

Yesterday in lanes ,Factory Stock Showdown and today in the lanes getting paired up for first round of Stock.
No news from the barn yet, but it looks like the few Super Stockers that are finished are good. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
More Pistons & Todd pulled today Ken?
|
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Before the rumors start flying, I would like people to know that my FSS/C car was disqualified in tech today. We spent seven hours tearing the car down and the motor passed with no problem. The car was kicked out because the wheel base was off 3/8th's of an inch.
Embarrassed and Upset, S.Bell |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
I thought the spec was plus or minus 1/2"? I had better measure mine.
Would have been nice if they had measured that first. Or told you to fix it before tomorrow. Won't make you one bit faster. Sorry Stephen. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
I didn't think they even measured, there are some cars that are obvious at just a glace but I suppose if both front and rear were moved and they just measure between them...
8.44 and was he on the brakes too? "only" 157. Need to see that run at Mission. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Big congrats to Bo Butner and Kevin Skinner for an exciting battle in the Factory Stock Showdown. Read more here: http://www.nhra.com/story/2015/9/5/b...howdown-title/
Same goes for Lloyd Wofford who defeated Gus Mantas to win the Mopar Hemi Challenge. Ever wonder if Indy still means something special? Watch a 64-year old man cry tears of pure joy while all of his family, friends and fellow racers offer their congratulations. There's your answer. I got choked up just watching from the sidelines. |
Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
What did Tony Cowell get torn down for? A random check maybe? Gee, the only time I see a photo of his car is in the "barn"/tent. I see he won class, seems like there was one other car in GT/IA that was a bit faster in qualifying, but didn't see him opposed in the class eliminations. Good luck to Tony and Steven tomorrow or today if they have already run.

Re: Live from the US Nationals INDY
Stock class cars 3/4 of an inch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLUS you are allowed 1 inch variation from factory specs side to side!!!!! Section 9 subsection 5 ---- 2015 NHRA rule book --do not know where 3/8 inch came up---FED 387
