So drag race central has posted final Q4 sheets and an elimination ladder for Stock Elim., that never happened before until after tear down was complete, so are they doing tear downs tomorrow???

He is enjoying a well deserved Coke a Cola in the motel . So yes Div 7 Steve Wann still owns A/SA , lol He has been torn down and looked at recently and in my opinion deserves a little break from what happened too him before he even reached Indy. |

Well it has been a long and busy day again today! Final qualifying run this morning, then 4 rounds of class. Just came up just a little short. Congrats to Steve Wann for his win in A/SA. Larry had a .002 light, but Stevie just outran us.
Thanks to Mopar tonight for the nice dinner and all the giveaways!! We appreciate it. Afterwards, we headed over to the Skillmans for their dinner, but we were too late (except for alcohol). On the way over, my camera fell off the golf cart and it is no longer! Totally destroyed. I think I may have my old one in the motorhome somewhere or may be someone can show me how to post with my I phone. So anyway, tomorrow is class day for super stock. So until tomorrow!! Patsy |

The stock class racing today was spectacular. Lots of good close racing, amazing wheel stands, hole shot wins - all of what make Indy the one race we all look forward to every year. I hope someone posts videos of the wheel stands in A/Stick and A/automatic. I'll post more photos in the morning

Some more random shots of the day. Racing starts at 8 am tomorrow with round one of Super Comp followed by first round of class for Super Stock. Tomorrows weather with be cooler with temps in the morning around 60 and I high of only 65, It should make for some quick runs in Super Stock.

Good morning it's Friday at the US Nationals. Let's start with a quick update on the weather today which is expected to be much cooler than the already cool temperatures we've seen this week. Last evening the wind kicked up and temperatures cooled down as the impact of the hurricane that swept through the Gulf States begin to touch the heartland of America. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s but a strong breeze will make it feel much cooler. The wind is expected to come out of the Northeast - so that will be a diagonal headwind on track. While the temps will be cooler, the barometer will likely drop as the front gets closer during the day - so it's a TBD if it will be any quicker today.

Yes, Gary does have some very proud Blue Oval racing in his background. Gary and his son Tom were both part of a factory program to run 5.0L Fox Body Mustang's back in the 80s and 90s. The Russell's did an outstanding job for Ford and really made the presence of the Mustang felt in NHRA stock and superstock racing. Bill Dyer's 1.588 under run in his 2010 Cobra Jet was certainly impressive. But don't think it was the combination that makes the car so fast. Bill is a pretty sharp guy - not only with engines but with the clutch and transmission too. And he has help from some of the sharpest stick shift racers in the country like Rob Turkal and Jim Schaechter.

Steve does not have to tear down, he just set the record a few days ago. He won the finals going away. From my view the blue car kept getting smaller, almost to the vanishing point. I knew I was in trouble when I lost the draft.
I had a real fun day, I got to go down the track five times in one day, a Q3 run then four rounds of class. I only got to see two class finals B/SA and ours. Congrats to all class winners and to all that entered this years Indy and took a shot at making the 128 car field. What I missed the most was FS/XX class, the performance of these cars is just short of amazing. Getting ready for class runs takes most of the day. The track was good most of the day, around 1:00 PM it got a little tricky for some, that run Tibor spun and that was the end of the ford. |

A correction on my comment below about Alleggruccii giving away the race. He lost a driveshaft the previous run and as he got towards the end of the track he felt the vibration again and lifted to make sure the car didn't lose a driveshaft again. Jonathan I apologize for the incorrect comment below.

Update from this morning.
Super Stock class was entertaining as usual. Cool temps but a pretty stiff headwind. Still, most cars picked up 3-5 from yesterday. First round of Mopar Hemi Challenge underway. So far winners are: Kent Comella Mantas Yantas S. Hebert That's the good news. Bad news, Hebert had a single run and left a river of transfluid./oil behind his car. I'm counting at last 25 Safety Safari workers cleaning up the mess but we're going to be a few minutes. |

An interesting observation- at the conclusion of Round 1 of Super Stock, there was a mass exodus of fans from the grandstands and golf carts back to the pits as Super Gas was ready to run

Except for the Hemi oil down, things are going pretty well today. The are running Comp right now. Super Stock just finished up with class 2. Here are a few shots from Super Stock and the Hemi Challenge, I will have more photos later, I'm heading down to the tear down barn.
