Re: Original hemi dart information
Not to completely hi-jack Daryl's thread here but like many others that
movie left an indelible impression on my mind. It is significant because several of my friends and I had heard about the movie and we all piled into my best friend's almost new '69 B5 blue Plymouth Roadrunner 383 with 4-speed and air grabber to go and see it at the Napoleon, Ohio Drive-In Theatre. Watching that movie in that car was a total testorone male bonding moment with all eyes glued to the screen for the duration. This car made the same sounds as Kowalski's and the ride home was, shall I say, memorable! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psdef62228.jpg |

I'm still here, just in case some of you might think I abandoned ship. Spring has finally arrived north of the 49th parrallel & as usual I'm not ready for the season, so I just don't have much time to be here right now. Sorry guys.
I'm visiting while I have a couple rare spare moments. Carry the torch for me in the meantime if you don't mind. Thanx Daryl my contribution Ray Daily http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...ps79d45a1d.jpg |

Not supersticious or nothing, but I just noticed my last post # was 666. My personal email also has 666 unviewed messages. So, this is just a post to erraticate those issues.

Re: Original hemi dart information
I know it's been shown before but this pic just screams 70's small town drag strip pit action.
How many of todays Pro Stock drivers would fit this profile? Maybe WJ (who's pretty much parked) but few others. http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73...1d4c7a9e9c.jpg |

A bunch of years ago I needed to do just a "quick" job of hooking up the pipes to the collectors on my 70 hemicuda. No jack stands required since it was only a 5 minute job----or so I thought. On my creeper, I connected the Drivers side, then without getting off it I rolled around the front to do the Passenger side. I went to pull myself under the car by grabbing the frame rail. This was enough to rock the car just enough to place a side load on the hydraulic jack 20 year old piston seal & it blew. The car came down like RIGHT NOW. It's a good thing I didn't have my head under it yet, only my shoulder & arm. The car nailed my shoulder hard enough to break the creeper wheel. Leason learned---the hard way, but also the lucky way. A split second later, it woulda bounced off my head. Ever since then I never go under a car for even a quick job without jack stands. liteweight |

Daryl: Did you make it to the Mopars in the Park Show last weekend? Does anyone have a report on the show. Thank you.

Well, because there is a points meet in the swamp this weekend (No Problem Raceway) I thought the Hemi Dart Fix of the Day should be this one:

Re: Original hemi dart information
Hey all,
Long time lurker, although I do not post much. I was directed here by a member on a different racing website. I have made a few runs of these brackets, and have 4 sets available as of now. I had supposed buyers, but some of them had flaked. They are identical to the original SS seat brackets from Hurst. They are meant to be used with the A-100 seats, but can be used with different seats by simply drilling a couple holes. Please email me directly if you are interested. These are $200 for a set of 4 brackets. Thanks! curleysracecars@gmail.com http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/IMG_1050.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/IMG_1049.jpg |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Longtime lurker, new poster here.
Today I had a conversation with a man who's father was an early owner of the 'Car of the Rising Sun' Dart. I recall the car racing at Cecil Co around 1971. I believe I have seen pictures of this car possibly racing around the Pittsburgh area later in the '70's? I am not sure of this. But it is my understanding the owner and driver of this car, Robert Good is currently in hospice care and would very much like to see a picture of his old car. Please post any pictures you may have or information about the car and I will make sure his family is aware of this thread. Thank you very much. Mike |

Re: Original hemi dart information
Gotta be some jack stands under there somewhere. Either that or the Landy team could make those cars of their's float.

Working in white pants! Wow, I would be all greasy in a hurry....
|
Re: Original hemi dart information
Looks like possibly a grey or silver jackstand under the elbow, I'm thinkin'.
It seems most of the articles and features back in the day would often show Mike and Dick Landy wearing those white pants,,, and they were never dirty! They must've had a truck full of them, clean and ready to wear. Danny Durham |

Re: Original hemi dart information
I read somewhere that it was in their contract with Chrysler because
they wanted to get away from the Rebel Without a Cause bad-boy biker type of image that early drag racing took on. Must have been a bitch to try to get anything done in those! I couldn't walk from the truck to the trailer without having an "incident". |
