Re: Joe Teuton
I would like to express the gratitude of our family on the passing of Big Joe and the many friends who posted condolences, the two to three thousand people who paid their last respects and the three hundred or so flowers and plants from around the nation. It was a great send off. I apologize to anyone who we did not get to shake hands with at the ceremony or anyone we did not acknowledge for the many cards, letters, and other things people did that were just so heartwarming and meant so much to the family. Many did not know how active Joe was with young people and baseball. He helped many young people with scholarships, grants and who knows what else in his lifetime. There was a regular stream from the majors to college scouts who would visit regularly and ask Joe, "who is out there I need to look at" and he knew who might get where; majors, minors, college and lots of young guys went way further than they could have done without someone looking out for them. The ceremony had all the many years of racers, baseballers, car and truck people, and local citizens. It was too large to have what I had hoped to be a series of Big Joe Stories which only he could tell. He was the master of embellishment and never let the facts get in the way of a story. There is a thread of Big Joe Stories started and I hope anyone who has one please post it. Again Thank You from the Teuton family. And Kevin Helms won Houston with Big Joe riding shotgun.

Re: Joe Teuton
Big Joe was a joker and loved to play jokes on his friends like ME!!!!!! at least two to three times a week he would prank call me or one of his friends. just a month or so before he fell sick I get this call one morning from a pest control co. this guy says I here you have Roache's in you shop tons of them.i told this guy no but I know who does!!! so I called Big Joe and he was still laughing!! he says I got you Bubba!! we don't have enough space on this Thread to tell them all.he would be riding down the road and If there was a phone # on a car or truck you would get a call from Big Joe.there was this man who would call the cops on us every time we would crank up the Race cars.so this was before called I D. and so Joe would send him over about 75 pieces of chicken unpaid for or Pizza.i could go on and on.he was my friend from when I was twelve years old.big joe was ten years older then me but that did not make any difference to him.Man I am going to miss my old Buddy. RIP my friend. PS myself Little Joe Jerry Caro and Sid did this Show on our Local TV station. it was a one hour show on remembering Big Joe. it was a nice send off. I will try to get a copy of it to play for everyone. Sammy Pizzolato
