Love him or hate him, he brings interest to our sport. His NHRA message to race the track, not the street, is positive. I think most S/SS people can appreciate his race effort. While he missed the cut this week (#31 469 Justin Shearer, Mustang OK, n'68 Firebird 6.361 226.47), most would be happy with his "A to B" consistency, in his last three Q shots. Its also shows just how tough the competition is in an NHRA Eliminator. Hope he comes back with more steam. Mike A114 P/SA |
Re: Big Chief DQ
Mike & Jerry are 100% correct and that's whats wrong with the future of the sport. We're so quick at jumping on the quickest chat board or FB site to beat up someone else for attempting to try something that has never been attempted before or bring up stuff they did 20 years ago and it has no meaning to the point at hand. Then we sit here and go "Boy the future of the sport is in trouble"....well, yeah cause everybody who wanted to come into the sport and race has been alienated by someone on a chatboard that they will probably never meet. I mean you go on other chat boards and because someone doesn't want to run them on a Friday night at the local track they want to do sickening stuff to their family....come on guys!!! It's ashame that the world has become the way it has with so much negativity and not enough positive points and we want to trash someone for trying something that might not qualify but, heck he gave it the good old "college try". Yes, we live in a different time now where racing events have kinda turned into a "Party scene" and nobody really works on their cars anymore but, for me the three or four days away from reality of the real world & a stressful job with no TV or news is a blessing and it's like turning off a switch and enjoying friends company.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program Rob K. |
Re: Big Chief DQ
Good post Rob and I agree. I am no big fan of Street Outlaws or Big Chief but lots of people are and it does add interest. If it helps our sport it's good....

Re: Big Chief DQ
Huge crowds around his car all weekend.Even when he was not out working on it.Murder Nova guy was signing autographs at the t shirt booth on the other side of the track.More people there than at any pros trailer.Alot of the Big Cs shirts were sold out.A few cars down from the Big C was Billy Glidden with Bob and Etta helping.Few even noticed.

If you' think he can save drag racing, you don't have a clue and are part of the problem!! |

Re: Big Chief DQ
"Big Chief" and his car have absolutely NOTHING to do with drag racing or NHRA. He has huge crowds around the car for the same reason Caitlin Jenner has huge crowds around him/her, Idiot Americans LOVE celebrity, whether it's actually earned or not. You could put ****ing Honey Boo-Boo in a ProMod car at Indy, and she'd outdraw every other racer there. And 70 percent of the "fans" around her and her car wouldn't even be able to tell you what ProMod is.
