I don't see the opinions of any of us not running Pro Stock right now being relevant anyway. Personally, I am very impressed with their performance levels. I really enjoy watching them.

The bottom line from the AJ article is
"As much as it pains Johnson to admits it, these kinds of moves appear as if NHRA is quietly trying to kill the Pro Stock division"

Ed, your opinion counts as a racers and fan.The main problem is you have beancounters who have never been invo at any level. They're just looking at our sport as a cash machine. We lost our right to vote and now you have people who have been elected at the board level who are looking at how much can they squeeze out of all of us before the well goes dry. Pro-stock problem could have been solved by going with a stock body with all the security of a pro stock cage.CR

Remember , the Super classes are what replaced /phased out.....modified eliminator.......one of the coolest classes ever. A Jr. Pro Stock class so to speak. Killing Modified has to be one of the dumbest things the NHRA has ever done. The super classes are pathetic.........that's SC/SST /SG.
The NHRA no longer has any appeal to anyone I know of...........and I know a few.
They like heads up NOS , 10.5 turbo and outlaw stuff , nostalgia racing and even gassers.
There is an entire "universe" of racing outside of the NHRA. I went to the Southerns this year.........I'll never go back............I'm done.
To me Pro Stock lost its appeal when WJ , Glidden , Iaconio and RMS left.....now its the Camaro nationals.........
Again........say what you want about Pro Mod..............but ,it has much greater "appeal" than Pro Stock.

I agree 100% with all of this. There is racing away from NHRA and it's national events and it is thriving. I'll never go back to a NHRA national event. It's a shame but Glendora has ruined a good thing just like Helton and France has done to NASCAR.....

How about

1. Tube chassis
2. Stock Body
3. Carbon fiber hoods
4. 5 speed of course
5. new motor config 500ci natural 400ci turbo/supercharged
6. Max tire 14
7. 9 rear

just a thought?

How much do you think a car built like this would weigh Dirk? Doubt very much they could race at the current minimum weight.

Not a bad Idea but I think a 400 cu in forced induction engine will make way more power than a 500 NA. That's kinda like mini promod. I say leave pro stock alone for the next few years and see if it can survive in a better economy

Lose the jellybean bodies and bring back body templates. Much of the appeal of the original pro stock was that the cars actually looked like the cars out in the parking lot.
