ok I "think" that the sportsman brings more money to NHRA. The membership fees, the entry fees, the advertising by manufacturers that cater to the sportsmen who buy the parts, etc., and I suspect just maybe now NHRA gets paid for TV rights, as well as if there were no sportsmen in the pits. They would look like nothing is happening for the"event" or 'Show." The fans would walk around and say where are all the race cars? Could you get my point now? I just bet if we ask the NHRA accountants about the sportsman impact that they bring approximately 3 million per year, they would be happy to receive the income:rolleyes:

I remember in Topeka one year the tech guys were checking fuel cell temps because several were dropping dry ice in their fuel cells.

Is there a specific rule against that?
Asking because I really don't know...

General Regulations section 21 page 5
1:5 Fuel Systems:

"Fuel/Air: Any method of artificially cooling or heating fuel prohibited (i.e., cool cans, Freon, wet rags, etc.), except as noted in Class Requirements. Cool cans, wet towels, etc. are permitted in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, and E.T. classes. Wet towels, rags, ice, etc. must be removed before vehicle leaves staging area. Coolers, chillers, etc., where permitted by class requirements, are prohibited outside of the competitor?s pit. Ambient-temperature air only; cooling or otherwise changing the conditions of the intake air is prohibited. Spraying of intake with any artificial spray or coolant prohibited."

Are many cars equipped with cool cans?

In one sentence it says (i.e., cool cans, Freon, wet rags, etc.) prohibited...
Then it appears to say permitted in the next...
Nothing like clarity...

So I guess you can't insulate your fuel cell either...

Idle mind is the workshop of the devil...

Never suggested there should be no "Pro" cars, but do they have to be right next to the staging lanes, considering that they are all towed up to the staging lanes, and towed back to the pits? Does it really matter where the Pros park? The hero card and autograph collecting spectators will go to wherever the pros park.
