Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
Unofficial numbers are 90 6.1, 7 5.7, and 3 5.9 for 100 DP Challengers. That was the agreement with NHRA 100 cars using those three motors. Production on the 2010 will start maybe next week 6.1 only (for obvious reasons) and scheduled to make 50. They are available for $40k +/-. Might be more combos later in the year.

Thanks Jeff, for the updates. Good Luck in Houston.

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
Jeff, of the 90 6.1's, do you know how many are stick cars? Thanks, Jerry.

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
Looks like 2010 #1 has been built and is now at MPR.
http://mprracecars.com/ -- click "NEWS" Anyone know the differences between 2009 and 2010? I have heard Strange brakes replace Mark Williams, and no more Viper seats. |
Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
I didn't know there was any difference, but I will try to find out. I think the 51 for this year will be done shortly.

They are all sold to dealers. I don't know about the end user. I have one available. I have 11,12,13.
|
Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
They are all sold out for this model year..... but I just had a customer get one that was promsed to someone else (must have backed out at the last minute - before final delivery).
If you still want one..... You can Call Jeff T(as mentioned in his post). Or you can have your local dealer contact mopar performance to see if there are any more cancelations. If your local dealer won't help, contact me or Jeff T. Tom Sheehan |

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
The changes made to the 2010 Drag Pak Challengers are Strange front brakes instead of Mark Williams, the master cylinder is and was a Strange unit.
The rear suspension cradle is now a trailer axle instead of the stock independent rear suspension the racer would be replacing anyway. The wheels are white trailer wheels instead of silver/gray. They are trailer wheel/tires for transport only. The rear trunk has the cylinders so you don't have to hold it open with a stick. The 2009s had no cylinders installed and we bought them from the dealer and installed them on the cars we built. The sheet metal cover to go over the opening above the rear suspension is not welded in to allow the chassis builder to have access to the trunk area before the cover is welded in place. The seats are aftermarket and look a lot like the Viper seats that came in the 2009s. There are no other noticable changes on the 2010s. Mopar is building 51 cars and as far as I know, they are all sold. |
Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
Got rid of the $4000 Viper seats and raised the price of the car $3000, interesting. Gotta love FIAT!

I have installed both TTI and American Racing headers on Challenger Drag Pak builds, both are good pieces. I like the outside O2 sensor location better for wiring.

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
80 & 81 are mine. In storage for now. 2010 11 was Darren Poole Adams, 13 is mine and the last two either 52 & 53 (6.4's) or somewhere around there are mine. 99 is Dempsy Pendarvis, I have a few more. Will have to look at my notes in my office. The 2012 6.4 blown ss cars are not yet alloted.

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
JEEZ Jeff, couldn't you have waited to let that gator outta the bag ???????? BLOWN !!!!!
|
Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
Bernie, Mopar don't know it yet, but I got the specs already figured out. They have been playing with blowers on the Hemi's for a variety of reasons and I believe there is a possible ss car in the future. They have been turned down by NHRA for a stock eliminator blower car, fact not fiction. One reason the DP's have the 4 bbl throttle body is it has a spring return, and not a drive by wire. Ford got the dbw approved. The aftermarket blower people sometime modifiy the program for the dbw and Mopar is afraid of a wot stuck because the shut down system in the factory dbw has been modified by the blower manufacturer. Has not happened yet, but I think there have been a couple part throttle sticks. That is just from conversations when I told them I want No 1 blower car. You gotta admit it gets people conversing, or maybe shouting. It's all fun.

No specifics on who owns them or who they were sold to, but 2009 #9 & #69 as well as 2010 #29 are listed here:

Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners
On my "list" I have Tommy Bjork of Sweden as the owner of 2009009. He has had it for sale since it was delivered to Donado for finishing. Tommy had decided not to finish and I don't believe John did any work on the car.. I do know it was a black car with white bumpers . Simular to Randy Warfords.... In July of last year he had an ad on Racing Junk for $125,000 and If I remember correctly this was for a finished car.....

Anyone who wants his car in the Drag Pak Registry at dragpakregistry.com can message me, Drooze (Chris) and I started a web site just for drag pak owners, and although things are slow now due to racing and the loss of Chris, I am getting caught up and starting to get folks entered there.

I have # 80 & 81 in storage, but one will move to become a stick shift. My sons Frank & Joey will take a shot @ stick shift, but I think with their busy lifestyles, Kevin will drive the car often. 80 is a 5.7, 81 is a 5.9.

Challenger Drag Pak owners, please PM me or send me your email address.
We are trying to launch a project that will help Drag Pak cars stay competitive for a longer time, than the current rate of HP hits will allow with current ratings of 360 for the 5.7 and 399 for the 6.1, and the Hemis that can only run AA/A/B/C now, whereas we started in AA/A/B/C/D/E/F with the 5.7s. If you wish to help makes things better now, and also keep them better for a longer time, drop me a note. Then we can get some spec errors fixed, and maybe get some other much needed changes made in the Program .... with us working together as a group. And yes, I know that we were responsible for the latest HP hit on the 5.7 But how could we know we would run a 9.85 the first time out? And we only did it once, and dont plan to do it again, whereas others have hit hp more than once, both in the 5.7 and 6.1 David The New hemi Guy |
