You had to go there didn't you Floyd? Fyi, that Hoover Damn that Patsy took all of those great photos of? That was our grandparents tax dollars at work!!! So what do you have to say about that? National Parks, the Highway system, need I say more? Get off of our presidents back, and enjoy Larry and Patsy's trip coverage (he's certainly not the first president to make such trips across our country, so why harp on him only)???

Larry and Patsy, I'm sorry I had to post this, but what Floyd printed was over the top, and I for one am glad to see the pictoral results of this country we should be thankful to live in, and allow(ed) our tax dollars to create/sustain...we need more people like Teddy Roosevelt (and Obama), who give a hoot about Americans and our way of life (as opposed to his nay-sayers in Congress)!!!

Enjoy the rest of your trip, and have fun racing out there in 'Vegas, but watch out for Elvis!!! :)

Hey guys!

This morning I went outside at 6:45 and all the trucks were running with lights on ready for the "land rush". Then a truck comes in at 7, blows its horn and the race is on. We went from being about #8 in line to about #40. I don't know where some of these people came from. Just all of a sudden they were there. Now we are sitting in line waiting to park. More later.

Isnt it a shame some still try to take advantage and Break in line. Sad comment on behavior and selfish nature. The Number on the windshield helped that but cant when you arent even in the track yet....
I remember many times arriving early to "get a good spot". Then the time I had to just take the only remaining piece of dirt to park and told my family " I can win it from here". They laughed but I got Runner up in SS .

Well we are inside parked and teched. Everything going very smoothly. There are lots of people out in the line waiting to get parked. They have people out on the street directing you where to go now so there shouldn't be any confusion as to where to go. It was like the "Wild West" this morning! Everyone there knew who was there before them, so you think they would be civilized and go in an orderly manner, but that sure wasn't the case. The guy that was behind us didn't even want to let me behind Larry with my rental car! Oh well we are in now and Red parked us in a nice spot with lots of other stock and super-stockers, so let's have a wonderful week and a half here and win this thing!!

I tried driving around on my golf cart to kinda get the lay of the land, and I have had to be towed back twice. It just quits running. Larry thinks it may be the ignition switch. At least I know what to jiggle if it stops again!

Talk about WINDY! Hopefully it just for today, but it sure is bad. I had my lawn chairs out and one of them almost blew into Mike Cotten's car. It hit their dog Macy, but she's ok.

The high today is 68 and in the morning for 1st round of qualifying, it is supposed to be 48 degrees, then warmer the rest of the week.

Las Vegas is almost always windy. I have found it a very difficult place to dial. I will be watching everyone on live timing in the morning.

Looks like a 10-15 MPH head wind tomorrow, coming from NNE. At least that is predictable where a NNW wind is not, once you get past the stands, IMO. Correction. I now see that the wind will only be 5-10 MPH.

I had a gentelman from Germany at my shop this past Friday, he flew in to alanta then drove the Portland to look at my Camero super gas car, which he bought and is to ship back to Germany, he is a very intertesting fellow and great to talk to about drag racing in his home country, anyway his name is Stefan and he left my place inroute to Bakersfield to the Hot Rod reunion deal then his is to attend the Vegas race, I gave him your name and told him to look you guys up there at Vegas I hope he does so for i think you will find it interesting how our sport works in other countries.

Larry thought he had broken his transmission and was about to change it, when Hidalgo came by and said he blew the tires off badly just like Cooter did. It still shifts ok, so he stopped changing and is going to try to get the next run. They changed the schedule and ss is running now.

A former nhra executive told me they film every pass down the track at a national event. They may not feed/stream the tower cam images but it (as well as other cameras) is supposedly working during the entire race for insurance purposes.
