You would think the ones bailed at last second would be more considerate. It's not like the weather changed Monday morning.

Dido!

Great pizza and plenty of eye candy strolling around! Krispy Kreme is right around the corner on 13th for some fresh warm donuts too.

Today is Tech day! It is partly cloudy with a chance of showers this afternoon. Larry got the oil changed in the racecar this morning and we are going over to the scales to get teched. You can pick up your packet out at the back gate where sportsmen come in. Tech is at the scales. You then get your credentials at the trailer like you are going to staging at the left. Weather forecast is iffy all weekend with 20-40% chance of rain each day. Hopefully all will go well.

More later.

The food and beverage prices at gainesville are highway robbery. I paid these prices last week at the points race at gainesville. Nhra should be ashamed ofcharging those outrages prices.

I agree 100%,I went to the Winternationals in Pomona,CA and it cost me $36.00 to just park my car for three days.

Wouldn't this be the tracks and not NHRA?

Pomona and Gainesville are owned by nhra and yes they have control of food prices at national events. I paid $9.50 for a McDonald's big Mac at Atlanta when McDonald's used to be a vendor.

I paid over $400.00 for tickets for my wife and I for three days of racing and to park my car at the NHRA WinterNationals..My wife said are you CRAZY!

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

For some reason, the Gainesville community has always been somewhat offensive on prices. Track prices are just what they are. Almost all major sporting events are elevated. Just part of the package. The motel/hotel stuff seems over the top. I know if you go to a Saints game, the price is higher than here, and the beer is really high. Just my .02

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

is no different than any other sporting event. gouge the customer,. make him pay high prices. eventually he will quit coming. LOL

Duh! I guess I forgot about that.

It seems to me that it is cheaper to enter a car and park in the pits....than pay general admission. We have never done that, but I believe it is probable.

Go to Brainerd Minnesota and see what a motel costs there at the nationals, its just plain crazy, $200.00 to $300.00 hundred a night at a super 8, I don't know about the food there though...

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

Good morning! We are ready for qualifying and class today. The schedule shows 2 qualifying runs, then class. But the weather is not looking good after 2 this afternoon, so that may change. Right now it is 69 and cloudy. We did not get any rain overnight or the fog that it was calling for this morning. Rain is in the forecast for this afternoon, but just showers. Just waiting for the call to "Come on up!"

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

57 regular stockers and 14 factory showdown cars made the first run. The fog moved in and there was lots of moisture in the air. There were a lot of incorrect indexes up this first round so it may take DRC a while to get the first round up.

Anybody else having trouble with Live Timing this morning? Mine only displays the pair up but no stats and I have to manually hit the "live" button after every pair to get it to advance. Also, nothing under the archive button for this race...

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

Looking at the first Stock list posted on DRC, shouldn't the cars of Skinner, Eakins, Holbrook and Calvert be FS/somehing instead of A/S?

Pat Comstock 03-12-2015 11:09 AM

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

Also, Kevin Helms is showing A/S instead of FS/X

Larry Hill 03-12-2015 11:27 AM

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

Anyone with index 9.90 is FS/XX. 10.15 is FS/X
Round 2 in the books. Next is class. Holbrook came close to going over that run. It hit hard coming back down. Still a chance of rain around 2, but it looks good til then, just overcast.

Where is the limit?
A six pack of beer at the WinterNationals would cost you $66.00!

Anyone else notice that the "regular" factory cars (e.g. other than the showdown cars - FS/X or FS/XX) are in their own combo classes? That's kind of cool!!

What's up with Jim Marshall? He's usually in the top 1/4 of qualifying. Last few events he's barely on the sheet.

Nick,
Some of us here suggested something similar , last year.....
....that FX cars should never run the older cars heads up.
Glad they are reading, and listening sometimes.

(Not responsible for index loss or combining of sticks and automatics ..lol)

Mark, I agree! When the classes were announced, I remember that there were concerns that the FSS/FS/FGT cars would be dumped into the regular Stick and Auto combos.

Re: "Live" from Down South!!!

We have to discuss the factory cars having a free shot at the Stock sheet with no consequences. They should have their own category if they want to play that way. The corporate welfare from nhra has to stop. Even if we have to create a very public petition to stop it.
