Here's an update on this Dart acquired from Erik Carlson at the Byron Dragway Facebook page. According to Tim Ryherd, current owner of Lee Smith's Car Shop business, the Dart pictured was owned by Lee Smith. Larry Griffith drove the car for Lee at this 1974 Byron Dragway points meet, and the HEMI engine in the car was Larry's. Does anyone know whether or not this car was a genuine LO29, or if it is accounted for today?

OK,

Paulie comes through again, with another find of a
lost LO23.

Tom Spanbauer of Oshkosh, Wisconsin

'Liberty Bell II'

Tom was already running his SS/B car by mid-April 1968.

Great article, discussing handling issues.

Nice find Paul. too bad there's no car ID numbers attached to that deposit slip. I quess at the time of purchase Feb11/68, there was no specific car assigned to this sale. First run of cars had a manufacturing date of Feb. 18/68

According to extensive digging. It looked like Jim Thorton

I believe that Jim Thorton was from Perrysburg, Ohio.

Since there is no information on the dealership, or whether my car was picked up in Detroit, it sure would help the cause to know where it came from huh? We know it didn't come from any of the New York area, since Paul has accounted for all those, so, we gotta start heading west maybe.

Sunday ~ February 9, 1969

Dick Oldfield will be exhibiting his 1968 Hemi Dart at the
Boulevard Mall at the Main Concourse.

Dick will be hold a Super Car Clinic on both Tuesday {February 11th}
and Thursday {February 13th} between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

The Super/Stock Dart will be on display at the Transitowne Dodge Exhibit.

Transitowne Dodge, is Western New York State's #1 Dodge Dealer.

Last year, Dick campaigned his 1968 Super Stock Dart under the banner sponsorship from the Erie County Dodge Dealers.

* Kenton Dodge ............. 3445 Delaware Avene, Buffalo
* Transitowne Dodge ..... 7408 Transit Road, Williamsville
* Gradl & Knoll Dodge .... 6800 Seneca Street, Elma

Dick won the SS/BA Class at the Super Stock Magazine Nationals

Daryl,

Though it wasn't required,

Several Racers installed a Lakewood 3-Point 'Bolt-In' Roll-Bar in the A-Body Hemi cars in 1968 and 1969.

It was an inexpensive piece of safety equipment, and they didn't
weight all that much, only about 45 lbs.

Kinda like this one? Not many racers add weight unless they are mandated to, but of course there is the exception.
Jimi V. pulled this bar out of this car & installed it in one of his. I believe it was "The Behemoth" wagon.
Great pic of the ad.

So, we know that Larry Cooper had a LO23, but who is John Cooper?

The yellow Dart that Lou Mancini had for a while - Cooper had a partner - they never raced the car.
