Daryl,
Lawrence 'Larry' Wilber Toledo, Ohio According to extensive digging. It looked like Jim Thorton {Manager of Race Vehicle Design} and member of the Ramchargers helped buddy Larry Wilber secure an early-deal on his LO23. I believe that Jim Thorton was from Perrysburg, Ohio. |

Daryl,
The so call labeled 'Manhattan Speed Shop' Dart {Automatic} 'was' shipped to New York in March 1968. I'll post all the information that I have on the Manhattan Speed Shop thread. |
Re: Original hemi dart information
In the background of the Raybourne photo is Jim Isherwood's SS/DA Satellite (orig Hemi car) and it looks like the corner of MIke Booker's SS/BA Belvedere Hemi car. Photo is at Mission, probably around 10 years ago.

Regarding Isherwood's car, you are correct that a 2nd car was involved but both the '66 and '67 were orig Hemi cars.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Ever here of John Cooper. Installed roll bar?? Roll bars weren't mandated till 69 or 70 I believe for A/MP. No roll bar required for Super Stock B then. Too bad, no pic huh??

Re: Original hemi dart information
Daryl,
Though it wasn't required, Several Racers installed a Lakewood 3-Point 'Bolt-In' Roll-Bar in the A-Body Hemi cars in 1968 and 1969. It was an inexpensive piece of safety equipment, and they didn't weight all that much, only about 45 lbs. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/a...r-jpg.2058695/ |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Kinda like this one? Not many racers add weight unless they are mandated to, but of course there is the exception.
Jimi V. pulled this bar out of this car & installed it in one of his. I believe it was "The Behemoth" wagon. Great pic of the ad. So, we know that Larry Cooper had a LO23, but who is John Cooper? liteweight http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...manMay1985.jpg |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Daryl,
John W. Cooper ordered his LO23 Hemi Dart {Automatic} from > Stetler Dodge Lancaster, Pennsylvania LO23 M8B He picked his Dart up at the factory. |

Re: Original hemi dart information
The yellow Dart that Lou Mancini had for a while - Cooper had a partner - they never raced the car.
As for Larry Wilbur, I invited him to the Hemi Reunion at Quaker City. He and his wife came and they brought some original paperwork for the guy who now owns his old Dart. Nice find Paul! Mark J 1968 Hemi S/S Registry |
