When I first started racing, I was like everyone else. I wanted to win every round and every race. Our sport will humble you very quickly. The longer I raced, the more I learned that it was about the people that cross your path, and the good ones that touch your heart. Dave Layer touched hearts. RIP my friend, you will be missed. My condolences to the Layer family.

This is a very sad day. Dave was a great guy and a good friend. RIP buddy. DeDe and Lindsey you have my deepest sympathy. I'm thinking about you guys.

Condolences and Sympathies to the Layer family for your loss. I also did not know Dave very well, usually just a friendly nod and a hello, but you always knew Dave was there and would be racing hard as he was always at the top of the Qualifying sheet, no matter what Eliminator he ran. I am sure he is in good company now and the list of the "Great Ones" just became longer.

Condolences to the Layer family. At this time I am speechless drag racing has lost another good guy!!! I was lucky to have Dave as a friend and it was my honor. RIP my friend
