In that case,,, you should've went to Columbus for the Northern Classnationals. The event T-shirts had not 1, but 2 wheelstanding Superstockers on the back side, with the Autometer event logo plastered on the front,, nicely done in dark blue or grey, your choice. You can see them in the Classnationals thread.
I flew all the way from Seattle to get mine,,, what held you back?

Re: OLD Modified Corvettes

Super Pro car but a nice piece of Corvette history just the same. To best of knowledge; last time pulled out and ran was mid 90's on an exhibition run. Blown, injected, zoomy headers and seem to recall a lenco. Took these picts a few years ago. The sound of this car is etched in my brain for eternity lol. Note the picture on wall above the roof line of the car; that's from the exhibition run spoken of.

We had more C/SM cars in class at Indy than in SS eliminator at many races today. Guys that liked to write big checks were no faster than guys with a clue what they were doing. You can hide more work in aluminium heads than iron. With the 1970s C/SM head rules there was no reason to send anything to Brodix, or anybody else, for verication.

Ed they can hide the grinding acid in stk why wouldnd they do it in this class?

Re: OLD Modified Corvettes

They could simply put a port CC limit on them, like in SS now. Some of the Stocker heads I have seen make me think somebody is not looking real hard, or aren't that familiar with some of these castings. If you know cylinder heads well enough to know where to look.... Wesley knows cylinder heads well enough, I'm not so sure a lot of these would get past him.

randy wilson 11-26-2014 08:33 PM

Re: OLD Modified Corvettes

I believe I know where this is going, and I could spot an illegal spec head without a whole lot of trouble. Then if there was a discrepancy, Brodix could make the call. They have several years experience dealing with every conceivable mod that has tried to slip by in the 360 sprints. The benefit is you are policing one head. Not 47 classes with 67 different head combos. Big difference.

Just ran across the article on that Vette in the April 1975 issue of Chevy Power a couple of weeks ago.
Did you catch who the owner is? I forwarded this to Darwin Doll and he would like to see this car at the York reunion next year.

Re: OLD Modified Corvettes

I loved that Epstein and Camic article. 10.60's at 126 with all that stuff done to a 302!
How much base do you think was in the clutch then?
Did Epstein need to have NFL quality thighs?

Look at what a modern 283 super stock engine does...
at 3300 pounds, 10.60s would be normal at 123 MPH (for a 283 stick car)
The little performance things sure have added up over the years!

I made a boo boo on my previous you tube upload, and had the video banned for using an NHRA, over the air clip. I redid it this morning for your audio pleasure!
