Re: Musical Tastes
Mark, I see your signature and understand where it came from. In my present world, "Popcorn" is a guiding light for....a...a...banjo playing hillbilly music. I'm not a hillbilly (I don't think), but like the sound of banjo picking and a moonshine thumper, and the taste of smooth liquor. I'm sure I'm the only one here. Lol
You all are listing music I am not a part of. Guess I missed more of the 60s and 70s than I thought. I have found that I enjoy music from 1967-8...crazy as it counts, Cowsills and "Rain the Park, and the other thing" is a favorite. |

I think you probably listening to AM when you were cruising around in your Road Runner. ;-) If this one doesn't finish you off, stay tuned for tomorrow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJv2-_--EY4 You guys can now debate who's in SECOND place for best ever R&R drummer ;-) |
Re: Musical Tastes
Gary this one's from '88 got everything you asked for,and more!..Sorry no banjo, but it's got a mandolin.Don't let Mark bother you,we got the Cowsills locked and loaded.Just have to pull the trigger!.lol...gsa612 https://youtu.be/xvaEJzoaYZk

Re: Musical Tastes
Another new artist from me today. Had this on in the garage yesterday as I'm getting the car back together. I probably have every album this guy ever produced. His lyrics were so impressive, especially with so many bands at the time being downright repetitive.

Thank you for the tunes..
Mark, you are correct and I still have that 69 Roadrunner, the AM radio, and the single in dash speaker. |
Re: Musical Tastes
Part 2 of yesterday's post.
The Rolling Stones Circus was a music movie from late 1968 ..You'll see who the guests were on the video cover. The performances seem to come and go on Youtube .This one only has the audio available at this time, but I wanted to use it ,because of the nod to Jesse Ed Davis in the break. For those classic rock only listeners who never heard of Jesse, here's a link for you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Ed_Davis The second track...well. let's just say it's NOT The Cowsills https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-Hq9-HmnQc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8WlHiKhj44 I forgot to comment on The Dirty Mac..One can only guess why Lennon used that name.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dirty_Mac |

The Everly Brothers are from Shenandoah, Iowa. About 35 miles from my home town. I stand corrected...looked them up and they were all over, Shenandoah included. Neither were born there. 72 years of being mistaken.

Re: Musical Tastes
The band The Ohio Express has a really convoluted history.
It's all very hard to follow, but I do know that when we first heard them, they were doing straight ahead Garage Rock. The later bubblegum band was not the same players, although the legal name remained. Not Led Zep stuff, but if you're interested, go here> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_Express This is the only cut I'll play here...I promise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WGo...eature=related |

Thanks to Austin City Limits (one of maybe two TV programs I watched when I had a TV), I discovered Ryan Bingham , maybe 10-12 years ago.

I am bone tired from this move, 100 plus degree heat. The pool is great in the evening after a day of putting things right in the new home. What is a sin is I have done nothing in the garage.

Re: Musical Tastes
Is it appropriate to put Pentatonix in the mix? They can sing anything.
I am sure that everyone has heard the story of "Rosa's Cantina"... We lived in the El Paso area for 18 years. About 6 miles from the Cantina in the Country Club Area. Marty Robbins is alive and well in Smelter Town, El Paso. Go there and have a couple of beers.....it will send chills down your back. |
