If I remember correctly someone said on here one of the *HRA's used Super Stock/Eliminator sort of like Pro Stock. |
Re: Original hemi dart information
AHRA, from '67-71 ran SS/E. They adopted "Pro Stock" in 1972. They also used GT (similar to Modified Production), and Super Stock was Formula Stock.

Re: Original hemi dart information
that's it for sure. Depends on when/where the pic was taken, could've been when it was transitioning from Gene's Speed Shop to Border Jumper when Larry had it. Or like Hemitime said just after Kerr painted it and before it was lettered. Where'd you find the pic Charlie? Very cool, thanks for posting.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Sorry I mean Jerry, thanks for finding it, thx Charlie for making it bigger.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Could also be when car was getting lettering changed from originally being Gene's Auto Racing Equipment to Gene's Speed Shop.I think this makes the most sense? I also remember hearing story of how one of front fenders was burnt with a space heater one winter so maybe that prompted relettering?? I can ask Gene when this happened,he still is pretty sharp for an old buzzard

The picture came from the Vintage Camaro Drag Photos group on Facebook.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Still wondering about that LO23 Dart that sold on Cars-on-line a few weeks ago. Supposedly went to Arizona. Anybody know about the history or who bought that car. Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks in advance.

I am the owner of this Red M Code with the Hemi in it. I just joined as a friend of mine sent me the link to the picture you have of July 69. The 440 was taken out of the car pretty much after it was bought and the Hemi with 8 webbers was set in the car. Here is another picture of the car. My plan is to return it back to Day 2 with the Hemi and 8 Webbers on it as I got the intake also.

Hey Daryl,
A-L-M-O-S-T a MILLION hits on your topic. How about some words of wisdom from the originator of what has to be one if not THE best automotive history sites on the net? Always a fan....and still hoping for that ride to happen. ;) |

Re: Original hemi dart information
Have you noticed that you very seldom see a wheel stand from a lightweight???? They all used mopar SS springs and pinion snubber. In 1971, I was very close to a Mopar sponsorship, prior to their financial problems. I was told that I had to use the same set up (I already had it)....for sponsorship. In hindsight, it was not very good.....just my 2 cents

What he said ......... Lets at least get this topic updated. If you ever sent pictures, try to repost and up date as many as you can of the ones that have expired and fallen off. Many from the early posts are gone. |
