NHRA HAS.....

issued a statement encouriging sportsman racers to contact their div. director or NHRA themselves and they will be more than happy to answer all questions concerning the sportsman racer.

It seems to me that I remember a certian IHRA tech offical who was involved with the original TOP STOCK program in IHRA stating this very thing was going to happen with NHRA about 5 or 6 years ago and 99% of you stated that he didnt know what he was talking about. He did say it would happen in about 4 to 5 years so he missed it by about a year. It seems that he was VERY in tune with the "Heart Beat" of both NHRA and IHRA yet you ignored what he had to say. I read recently about him saying something about T/S and T/D classes at NHRA yet the Super class racers also gave him hell on the super site. Maybe he wasnt so stupid after all. I think I would like to hear more from him in the future.

Your certain IHRA official was stupid in the sense that he "claimed" sportsman racing would go away. Looks to me like this could ratched sportsman racing into an even higher place in the sport than what it has been in the past.
If sportsman racing is still tied to national events, and the NHRA name is marketed succesfully with the deep pockets it will now have, this thing we call sportsman racing could really get big.
So, the facts may actually prove that your "certain IHRA official" was totally wrong. He has very little wisdom to offer.

STREET ROD 06-01-2007 01:46 PM

No "SMOKEY" YOU are wrong! He never said sportsman would go away. I will try to cal him this evening to get his exact words. He said it woud be divided into a Pro show and a series of Sportsman shows for each division. Get your facts straight. You are like a lot on here and say things that are not true or wrong to stir up trouble. I have copies of what was on this forum during that time buried around here someplace and will quote word for word what was said if I cant track him down. That was an important subject forr several of us back then.

Explain? Haven't read anything concrete to date regarding that. Have any specific ideas on what the goals are are and how they will accomplish them?

Like I said in another thread, part of the agreement calls for NHRA to pay NHRA Pro $800,000 per year for the inclusion of Sportsman racing at national events, so the situation isn't really going to change much in that regard. However, the agreement only has a life of 25 years, so the "sky is falling" theorists have 25 years to get ready for the impact.

Larry is the deal carved in stone? Who says NHRA will continue to pay the 800'g and where do you think NHRA will get the money. I don't know any of these answers and I'm not sure any one else does either. I think we should have an open forum with the new buyers.

Ed,

NHRA .org will have a reduced amount of dollars to run the operation without all of the cash from the pros. Tom Compton has repeatedly said that NHRA has to subsidize the Sportsman racers.

So how long do you think NHRA.org will operate before they say they are out of dough?

Real Racer 06-01-2007 08:22 PM

TOM COMPTON IS A REPEATED LIAR TOO.
I AM SURE SOME OF THAT MONEY WILL HELP FUND IS ***** AND BOOZE HABIT.

Ed,
The 100 mil is already spent, that is, if they get it.
