Class and engine for 65 Coronet

Just curious what engine combination is legal for what class in Stock or Super Stock with a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500. If this is the wrong place to ask this question please direct me to a forum that will help.
1st time user Thanks

What one are you looking to run? (engine wise) Is it a 2-door, 4-door, wagon? Their's a couple good running wagons in stock with 273. here try this http://www.nhra.com/competition/classification.aspx

Just a little too general a question. It's more complicated than that. Go to the link I provided and click "Dodge" and then "1965". The '65 Coronet is available with everything from a 225 six to the 426 Hemi. You can start here:

The 383 has been de-rated the last time I looked and is one of the least expensive combos to build besides a 273 (U/SA and stick) and is a nice fast ride for I/S stick or automatic in a 2 or 4 door. Mid 11's capable.

Go with the 383 Bob, I have a set of heads if you need them.

The 426/365 has been rated to 300hp which would put you in G or H stock depending upon the weight of the car....this is a unknown combination whereas the 383 and 273 are proven combos.....the hemi is really expensive to build and run.

Good luck in your choice.

I believe the Hemi can only be ran in a post body, The Coronet 500 were hardtops.

Thats is correct for the 65s unless he wants to build a MoPar crate hemi with a single 850 CFM carb for IHRAs crate motered class.

We don't have any IHRA tracks here in the northwest, Does AHRA have any crate motor classes? There are a couple tracks around that have switched to AHRA.
