16 v battery

Its time to update my battery in my super stocker. Looking to upgrade to a 16 V battery this time. What do you recommend or not?

Thanks,

Thanks,

NEVER saw ANY performance gain on the track or dyno with one. Only increased expense and failure rate and very poor customer service the batteries NEVER fail it's ALWAYS YOUR fault charged it wrong, or too long, or not long enough etc ask Monty Bogan or Bill Rink sometime about their 16V experiances?
WE HAVE HAD GREAT SERVICE FROM the lightweight Rock and Braille units we use and sell them never had a failure yet.

Cannot comment on any performance increases, however I've got 2 XS power 1000's in mine. Bought in 2007, quick recharge, no problems. I do not run an alt. could find no good reason not to go to 16 volt, if there is one I'm unaware of it. Of course weight was not an issue for me. Joe

I'm with Joe, and we have the same batteries. My car is faster with either 12 volts & an alternator, or 16 volts without, than 12 volts without. Had the belt come off a couple of times. No belt to screw with now. Racing starters, coils, fuel & water pumps are now made to be fine at 16 volts, as well as my FAST ECU, and MSD stuff.

I have 2- 16V Turbo starts batteries in my SS, I am very happy and they have been very reliable, especially during "round robin". Only down fall is Bulbs in autometer gauges burn out faster, I am sure there is a cure for that.

same thing I heard from numerous super stock racers. I run two AC Delco 12 volt batteries with 1090 CA along with an ECAE alternater. Never have I thrown a belt, never have I had a failure and no expensive, dedicated, battery charger required.

two Turbo Starts, very happy with them, the hemi never started so well! One word of advice, do not go with the lightweight model, use the full size. Dyno

Wasn't happy with the life of my Turbostarts, 2 dead and gone in 1 season using their approved charger in my SSer. Very disappointed in quality. Anybody need a turbostart charger?

Mine is a good half MPH and a couple hundredths quicker on 16v. Have to tune it for which ever you use. The injectors open faster thus runs richer with higher voltage. Belt comes off the alt it goes lean and slows down. No big deal with a carb.
