Stripe Catcher/Pecker Extender

Sorry everyone, if you've been following along in other threads you'll know that I am new to STK. Gotta ask a dumb question. Are you allowed to put a strip catcher on a stocker? I wouldn't mind having an extra foot (or two) before I trip the finish line with the tires. I've never seen a stocker with a stripe catcher but I didn't see anything in the rulebook forbidding one. Please advise.

Re: Stripe Catcher/Pecker Extender

Although I'm not sure that Stripe Catchers/Pecker Extenders belong in
the same category, a Stripe Catcher is NOT legal in NHRA Stock Eliminator.
Also, keep in mind that if the Stripe Catcher trips the finish line light before
the front tires, the car has in fact ran a faster Elapsed Time than it would
have with the front tires tripping the beam. This would call for a different
dial, and changes your variables on the run. Although I like that your looking
for every advantage for your new Stocker, this might not be the place to
look, for now.

Don't know about the legality of it but you have to be sure it takes the stripe on acceleration the same as on the brakes. If it takes the stripe on the brakes but not under full throttle you will be defeating yourself.

You are not allowed body modifications in stock of super stock

There is a reason you have never seen one in Stock eliminator ..:):)

I saw where it says this in the rule book, but I wasn't sure if it was considered a body modification. Fair enough.

The idea would be to have it in a position where regardless of if the car is accelerating or decelerating, the catcher would help trip it the same way each time. Under acceleration, the car trips it with the catcher and deceleration it would take the stripe with the bumper, and I'd line both up so that would be the case. As it turns out, the car will actually be faster driving it 1300 feet instead of 1320, what a concept lol.

You're probably right, I just think that term is hilarious and wanted to include it in the thread title XD

If you want to run a stripe catcher in Stock Eliminator, just build a 4th gen F-body. I've heard many stories Lt1/Ls1 firebirds winning and losing races due to the "beak" catching the nose under hard braking.

You are correct, a dumb question! Clearly you haven't read the Rulebook yet you claim you're building a stocker.

0 years, but I just built my first stocker. It's a rusty 4th generation MalibuI bought the car rolling and put a bone stock small block together for it that should be legal.

My $ says you never make one pass in NHRA competition with a stock eliminator car that you build.
