2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Just to give everyone a heads up, we’re very close to announcing a date for the 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout. We’re just waiting for the NHRA Lucas Oil Schedule to become official in the next few weeks but, feel confident this event will be on an off weekend for D1 racers...not sure about the other Divisions. The event will once again be hosted at Maple Grove Raceway and expand to 3 days (Fri - Sun) with 3 different races each day. It will once again feature Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. Details will be announced very shortly...so stay tuned!!

The initial plan is:
Friday
1 or 2 Qualifiers and High Roller Race for .90 and a Quick 16 for Top & Top

Saturday
1 Qualifier and a regular race for .90 and a Top vs Top race like we did this year

Racers BBQ, Live Band and Cornhole Tournament at Night

Sunday
1 Qualifier and the .90 Nationals & Top Shootout and adding in a Separate Consolation Race (Not a Buyback) to the race for those who lose early.

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Good Afternoon Everyone, a few weeks back I announced that the .90 Nationals & Top Shootout would make a return for the 2021 season. We're proud to announce the date for that event will now be on August 27th to 29th once again at Maple Grove Raceway. I know some of you will say but, this is on top of the normally scheduled Bowling Green D3 Race or the Spring Flings in Columbus but, the unfortunate part is we have so many other events now piled on to each and every weekend that finding a weekend that doesn't interfere with something else is pretty much impossible anymore and also hoping the track is not already packed with stuff as other promoters are looking for new venues to host event.

The event will feature Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman & Top Dragster. On Saturday Night the 28th, we will host a Racers BBQ, Cornhole /Beanbag Tournament, Practice Tree Race and a Live Band for all racers and family to enjoy once racing is complete or as we get later into the day.

The plan right now would be to host a mini race at $100 entry on Friday the 27th (1 time run), the 28th would be a $120 entry each class (2 time runs) and do a high-roller event like we did this past year and then Sunday would be the main .90 Nationals and Top Shootout with a consolation event (separate event) for those who lose 1st round. Entry for that would be $200 for .90 and $250 for Top & Top just like this year was and the consolation race would be separate cost ($75). Top and Top would be 48 Car fields and those who want to double entry may do so. Payouts will increase from the 2020 event significantly and we're looking for sponsors who would like to throw a little extra into the pot towards the winners / runner-ups and round winners. So if you know of someone that wants to join a great event get in touch with me.

Top Sportsman & Dragster payouts for main event:
24 cars - $2,200 win / $850 rup
32 cars - $3,000 win / $1,000 rup
40 cars - $3,600 win / $1,200 rup
48 cars - $4,500 win / 1,300 rup

.90 Cars Payout for main events:
32 Cars - $2,300 win /$750 rup
50 Cars - $4,000 win / $1,000 rup
60 cars - $5,000 win / $1,250 rup
70 cars - $6,000 win / $1,400 rup
80 cars - $7,000 win / $1,500 rup

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Ok Boys and Girls,
Since I'm waiting on dates to finalized the MA .90 Schedule, I've been tinkering with stuff for this event. So Here is the preliminary schedule and payouts that I have for this event on August 27th to 29th. If you have any comments or ideas for this event, please comment below. Also if you have any sponsors that you’d like to get involved with this event throw them my way, you can sponsor a class, the event, whatever you’d like to do. I know Indy is the weekend after and it looks like it will return to it’s normal Wednesday start which in turn means the people going have to be there a week before the gates open and still be parked 3 miles from the staging lanes....smh. So here is what I came up with, let me know your thoughts.

Thursday – August 26th, 2021 – Possible Parking and Test & Tune (Still have to run this by Maple Grove to see if they would be interested).

Friday – August 27th, 2021
Gates Open: 7:30 - 8 am
Time Run #1 – 9:30am (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
Opening Event 1st round – 12:00pm (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
$100 entry for all classes and they will all run separate.
20 Cars – W - $1,000 / RU - $500 – Semis $170
31 Cars – W - $1,500 / RU - $675 – Semis $200 x 2 racers
40 Cars – W - $2,000 / RU - $750 – Semis $275 x 1 racers
50 Cars – W - $2,500 / RU - $900 – Semi’s $215 x 2 racers
We will start payback at Round 3

Saturday – August 28th, 2021
Gates Open: 7:30 - 8 am
Time Run #1 – 9:00am (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
Time Run #2 – 12:00pm (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
High Roller Race 1st round – 2:00pm (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
$120 entry for all classes - .90 will all run separate. Top Dragster & Sportsman will be a combo.
16 Cars – W - $1,200 / RU - $400 – Semis $120 x 2 racers
24 Cars – W - $1,700 / RU - $700 – Semis $250 x 1 racer
32 Cars – W - $2,400 / RU - $800 – Semis $200 x 2 racers
40 Cars – W - $3,000 / RU - $1,000 – Semi’s $350 x 1 racers
48 Cars – W - $3,500 / RU - $1,400 – Semis $400 x 1 racer
56 Cars – W - $4,000 / RU - $1,500 – Semis $300 x 2 racers
64 Cars – W - $4,500 / RU - $2,000 – Semi’s $350 x 2 racers
Remember this is a high roller race so we only payback to the semi’s and the Top is based heavy.

Saturday Night once racing is completed, hopefully around 7pm
Racers BBQ, Live Band, Practice Tree Race, Cornhole/Beanbag Tournament in Pavilion

Sunday – August 29th, 2021
Gates Open: 7:30 - 8 am
Time Run #1 – 9:00am (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
Top Sportsman & Dragster – the Qualifiers from Saturday and the 1 from Sunday will count towards ladder pairings.
.90 Nationals & Top Shootout 1st round – 12:00pm (SST, SC, SG, TD, TS)
.90 Cars – Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street
$200 entry for all classes
32 Cars – W - $2,300 / RU - $750 – Semis $425 x 2 racers
40 Cars – W - $3,100 / RU - $1,000 – Semis $500 x 1 racer
48 Cars – W - $3,800 / RU - $1,000 – Semis $500 x 1 racer
60 Cars – W - $5,000 / RU - $1,250 – Semi’s $450 x 2 racers
70 Cars – W - $6,000 / RU - $1,300 – Semis $500 x 1 racer
75 Cars – W - $6,500 / RU - $1,350 – Semis $525 x 1 racers
80 Cars – W - $7,000 / RU - $1,500 – Semi’s $550 x 1 racers
We will begin paying back at Round 3

Top Sportsman & Dragster
$250 entry for all classes – 48 car qualified field
16 Cars – W - $1,600 / RU - $550 – Semis $300 x 2 racers
24 Cars – W - $2,200 / RU - $850 – Semis $500 x 1 racer
32 Cars – W - $3,000 / RU - $1,000 – Semis $550 x 1 racer
40 Cars – W - $3,600 / RU - $1,200 – Semi’s $600 x 1 racer
48 Cars – W - $4,500 / RU - $1,300 – Semis $600 x 1 racer

We will begin paying back 2nd round at least $100
Sunday Only – Consolation race (A lot of you asked for this after hearing that it kind of sucks losing 1st round so early on Sunday). This would be separate from the regular event; you would not be placed back into the regular .90 race, this would happen after 1st or 2nd round depending on interest and counts. Want to make sure we finish before curfew at 7 or 8pm.
For all classes – Top & Top up to you if you want to participate
$75 entry
16 Cars – W - $500 / RU - $250 – Semis $100 x 2 racers
24 Cars – W - $850 / RU - $400 – Semis $200 x 1 racer
32 Cars – W - $1,050 / RU - $500 – Semis $200 x 2 racers
40 Cars – W - $1,400 / RU - $600 – Semi’s $300 x 1 racers / 3rd round $100 x 2
48 Cars – W - $1,600 / RU - $700 – Semis $200 x 2 racers / 3rd round $100 x 3

With this format it will allow anyone who wants to enter all three races, 2 events or just the big $$$ one as you'll get a shot at the tree each day, that was one of the biggest complaints I heard from Sunday at last years race because we started 1st round at 9am and for some they were eliminated by 9:15am, also adding a consolation race for those who lost early.

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Well, I’m proud to announce our first sponsor for the .90 Nationals and Top Shootout. Jerry Holcomb and his company J.A. Pest Control Services is back and will offer up $250 to the Best Winning Package over the three .90 classes. So the driver with the BWP between Super Comp, Gas & Street will take home a cool $250. Thanks to Jerry and J.A. pest control services for jumping on board as the FIRST sponsor for this great event!!

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Quick update for Friday, August 27th, 2021.

Unfortunately, we got word that the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School will be at the track from August 23rd to 27th. The school will be taking up the track till about 4pm on the 27th. We will now move the T&T and race to evening beginning 4:30 to 9pm. Gates will still be open in the AM to park and get through tech just the T&T and first event will move to around 4:30 and will only be for the Top Cars and .90 Cars. With it being August and temps still in the 80’s and the sun not setting till around 8pm, we should be able to get everything completed in time and in a safe manner.

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

With the reschedule of the Maple Grove D1 race today to the weekend of the .90 Nationals we have moved this to Labor Day weekend (Sept 3rd to 5th). We know this event is on top of Indy but, what can you do, only so many weekends in a year to organize something. The good part is this is now the weekend before the Keystone Nationals so you will get some good data for that event. You will though have to go outside the gate and stack once Sunday is completed so NHRA can park you accordingly for the National event.

BKSG1198 06-29-2021 04:55 PM

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Here is the updated schedule with the new dates and details:

We all know Labor Day is a busy time of the year with Indy, Yellow Bullet, getting kids ready for back to school but, due to a postponement of the Lucas Race at Maple Grove in May, we had to adjust the .90 Nationals date and move it to Labor Day weekend. So if your attending the Lucas Race and not hitting Indy, just leave your stuff at the track!

We know last year we had the awesome Top Dragster and Sportsman cars with us but, to not conflict with Yellow Bullet or Indy we had to moved them to this past weekend. We will though have 2 Sunoco ET Bracket events with us on both Saturday and Sunday!

Here is the
schedule and info:

Friday, September 3rd, 2021
Track operated Test & Tune - Gates open at 9am, test & tune from 12pm till 8pm for $40.00 / $10 Crew (Must Purchases tickets for the weekend)

Saturday, September 4th, 2021

.90 Racing 64 Car High Roller Race - $120 for the High Roller .90 Race (Just like last year, 1st come, first serve at the base of the tower).

40 Cars:
W: $3,000 / RU: $1,000
56 Cars:
W: $4,000 / RU: $1675
64 Cars
W: $4,500 / $2,000
(Payback depends on counts, could be semis or quarters...it’s a high roller race)

Sunday, September 5th, 2021
This will be the main event - 1 time run and go

34 cars:
W: $2,500 / RU $850

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

For those of you hitting the Maple Grove D1 event, you may leave your rigs at the track for the following weekends POR15 .90 Nationals. Betsy has asked that everyone who is staying to please move onto the asphalt as they have to mow the grass in between the Lucas Race and the .90 Race.

Heck the way the Indy schedule is looking some of you who are going to Indy might be able to make it back to race with us that weekend, Looks like E1 will be on Thursday morning!

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

Some random questions that have been asked over the past few weeks:

Here's what to expect:
.90 Racers - If you want to run the High Roller Event on Saturday – Doors will open at 8am on Saturday Morning at the base of the tower to sign up. It is $120.00, we will take 64 cars per class, once that is full there are no more entries accepted. Everyone will be allowed to run the first & only time run that day (We will be monitoring it in the lanes) but, unless you are signed up for the high-roller event you are done for the day. There will be no clean-up runs that day as we have a lot to get completed. If you want to jump over and run the Bracket Race you're more than welcomed. It will be ONE TIME RUN both days for everyone, we have 11 classes to run Saturday and 10 on Sunday. Maple's biggest classes are Pro and Sportsman...sometimes Super depending on the weather, I promise we will get this all finished in time as long as you work with us.

For those doing the T&T on Friday, September 3rd. Gates will open at 9am, T&T will start at 12pm - 8pm for $40 - Remember you MUST buy a tech card for either the .90 Races or the Bracket Race to be allowed into the T&T...you can still park and get set up that day if you want. This is NOT an open T&T for anyone. If you buy a card for Brackets and decide on Saturday you want to run .90 you can also but, need to go get another card. Lanes Assignments (Please follow this) we cannot promise you'll get the lane you want or side by side runs since we will be front to back.

Lane 1 - Super Street
Lane 2 - Super Gas
Lane 3 - Super Comp
Lane 4 - Pro
Lane 5 - Super Pro
Lane 6 - Sportsman
Lane 7 - Pro Dial
Lane 8 - Bikes, Trophy, Juniors, Junior Street

Saturday & Sunday we will start at 8:45am like normal with the normal Sunoco Bracket program - 1 time run and go both days!

Saturday Rotation
Pro - Lanes 5,6,7,8
Super - Lanes 1,2,3,4
Juniors - Lane 7 & 8
Bikes - Lane 7 & 8
Junior Street - Lane 7 & 8
Sportsman - Lanes 1,2,3,4
Pro Dial - Lane 5 & 6 - (Saturday Only)
Trophy - Lane 7 & 8
Super Street - Lane 1 & 2 (rollover to lane 3&4 if needed)
Super Comp - Lanes 5,6,7,8
Super Gas - Lanes 1 & 2 (Rollover to lane 3 & 4 if needed)

Sunday Rotation
Pro - Lanes 5,6,7,8
Super - Lanes 1,2,3,4
Juniors - Lane 7 & 8
Bikes - Lane 7 & 8
Junior Street - Lane 7 & 8
Sportsman - Lanes 3,4,5 & 6 - this way when we call Super Street we should lanes 3 & 4 cleared for roll-over and into lanes 5 & 6 or the 6 trophy cars you get in 7 & 8
Trophy - Lane 7 & 8
Super Street - Lane 1 & 2 (rollover to lane 3&4 if needed)
Super Comp - Lanes 5,6,7,8
Super Gas - Lanes 1 & 2 (Rollover to lane 3 & 4 if needed)

Is there pre-entries this year - NO, we only did pre-entries last year due to the COVID regulations placed on the track. This year it is just show up at the gate, pay your cash and come to the base of the tower to do the High Roller Race.

Bracket Race:
Entry Fees
Super Pro: $60
Pro: $60
Sportsman: $40
Bike: $45
Jr. Dragster: $40 + one (1) crew
Jr. Street: $30
Pro Dial: $50

Crew: $10 Friday / $10 or 15 on Sat & Sun Per day.

Payouts:
Saturday High Roller Race ($120 entry):
32 Cars - $2,400 to win /$800 runner-up
48 Cars - $3,550 to win /$1,350 runner-up
64 Cars - $4,500 to win /$2,000 runner-up

Sunday .90 Nationals ($200 entry)
40 Cars - $3,100 to win /$1,000 runner-up
60 Cars - $5,000 to win / $1,250 runner-up
70 Cars - $6,000 to win / $1,400 runner-up
80 Cars - $7,000 to win / $1,500 runner-up

Plus as an added bonus POR 15 is throwing up a $500 bonus to the winners and $200 to the runner-ups on Sunday

Also we can go a $20 Calcutta if you wish to jump in but, that's optional

Also random prizes from Jegs, Brodix, Comp Cams, Cal Car Cover, VP Racing Fuels, Waynes Auto Body MVP ($250), JA Pest Control Solutions Best Overall Win Package (All 3 classes - 1 winner) - $200, BLP each class $100, Hook Daddy Motorsports Bounty on the 2020 winners, if the winners don't show it goes onto the Runner-Ups- $50.

First round - random pairs, pulled by is the closest to the .90 in the 1 qualifier! Ladder 2nd round, lane choice is flip for lanes!

Trees (Same as Mid Atlantic .90)

Super Comp - .370 / Gas - .400 / Street -.500 pre trees

All NHRA rules apply including fire suits and diapers.

Do I need to be a member of your series- As in all our events, NO YOU DO NOT, our series is open to everyone to come and race with us. This is a non-points race anyways so it's open to anyone who wants to come play as long as your car fits the rules and regulations.

Parking: You may leave your trailers at the track following the Lucas Oil Race, Betsy asked for us to park on asphalt so they can mow the grass. As far as the .90 Race, I don't think the bracket guys have RSVP spots but, I'm sure you might get a few ruffled if you park in their spot but they will just have to get over it. As far as the Keystones go, you will need to exit the track on Sunday Night, stack at Gate 4 till parking starts on Wednesday for the Nationals.

We will also have T-Shirts for Sale - $20 for S-XL, $22 for 2 & 3 XL and $24 for 4 XL - will have a few limited sizes in Womens and Kids also, once they are gone they are gone. Everyone who attends will also get these cool stickers done up by The Design Joint to show you were there!

Radio Station - 91.3

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, hope to see you all support this event!

Re: 2021 .90 Nationals and Top Shootout

As we put the closing touches on the 2nd Annual .90 Nationals I just want to say a quick THANK YOU to all the racers who made it out this past weekend to run with us. We all know we had a lot of races for you to choose from on this holiday weekend (Numidia, Indy, Yellowbullet, Norwalk, Bristol) and sometimes things don’t always fall the way we hope for them too. I appreciate you all towing to the track to support this event!! Anyone who knows me, knows that I don’t like to not finish events but, I also have to look at the safety aspect, do we all want to race, of course we do because we’re competitors (hence why I had all 20 racers left in competition Saturday talk it out in the tower) but, the main part is everyone loaded them into the box right side up to race another weekend at nights end and left with more money then they came in with. Sunday the weather did a complete 180 on us Saturday Night and went from 20% when I went to bed at 12 to 70% within 6 hours and with prep for the Nationals beginning today we couldn’t push it to Monday...and of course it’s sunny and 80 out today.

So a few questions have been asked? What about 2022? Will there be another .90 Nationals? I can say right now the plan is to have one next year, it might be combined with another event as I know there are so many weekends in a year to plan stuff and I have to tip toe around the NHRA events to not schedule on top of them. I have already received word that POR 15 will be back as title sponsor for 2022 in whatever we decide to do.

Will is be a stand alone event? Yes it will most likely be .90 and Top & Top and maybe one other class but, it won’t be jammed packed like it was this past weekend so we can enjoy the time at the track, finish in time and enjoy time with fellow racers?

I also talked to Jason at POR 15 about the added bonus money that was put up and we have decided to roll some of that over to the final .90 race at Maple Grove on October 2-3rd, so look for an announcement this week.

Everyone enjoy your Labor Day and thanks once again for supporting this event!
