Tom Gould the Birthday Boy

Well it is that time of the year again, no we still have 12 days before tax time. Today Tom Gould is celebrating the 33rd anniversary of his 39th birthday.(LOL). For those of you who haven't checked the IHRA points standings, currently Tom is 3rd in Division 2, and he is 15th in the world. Yea I know it's still early but for a 72 year old GENTLEMAN it is Damn Good. Instead of toasting you with a cold beverage this year how about I toast you with a bottle of HOT SAUCE and oysters(LOL). Have a great day my friend. Mike

Thanks Mike and everyone for the well wishes and kind words.

Mark, at the 1973 Little Guy Nationals, Superstock was won by Joe Santangelo ( SS/J Chevy II) and Modified was won by Larry Kopp ( E/MP Chevy II).

Tom, you have a great memory for some one who turns 72; or either you know where to look up the finals from 1973. You are definitely one of the elders of class racing, whom I very much respect. I wish you a Happy Birthday!

Tom,

We all respect & admire you and we all hope we will still be doing this when we're your age. I know, I don't have far to go.

I don't know of anyone that has been flogging the same combination for 42 years. 35 years ago you were already at the point of any performance increases were like splitting hairs. Any yet you just kept on getting quicker and faster. Used to amaze me how you were always able to pull out that extra tenth or so when you really needed it. And always came through a tear down with flying colors.

What you have been able to do with that Corvair, the factory engineers that designed it, would never believe.

Any book that is written about Corvairs that doesn't devote a full chapter to what you've done with the car, would not be complete.

Enjoy it anytime youn are at the same race that we are.

Happy Birthday Tom...you are an example of how well those that have been around three score and ten can function. There should be no fear of the competence and longevity of a certain Presidential candidate who shares your level of tenure on earth, and a common interest in vehicles...Ralph Nader.
God Bless

Stacie, I knew right where to look...out in the garage in the Xerox box labeled NHRA 72-73. LOL.

Stacie, Bobby and Roger, thanks so much for the kind words.

Happy Birthday Tom - I got a decent shot of your car Saturday morning at Mooresville - I was having trouble getting shots due to the overcast and my camera not focusing quick enough, but your car was not as fast as the others so it seemed to be ok.

P.S. I notice now after looking at it full size that it is somewhat blurry, just not as bad as the other ones were, anyhoo, in case anyone wanted to know what your ride looks like, there she is :)

Happy birthday, Tom. Hope to see you again one of these days. I see a Lunati decal on your car. Is that the cam you bought in 1975?

The worst part of you getting older is you keep dragging me with you. Now I'm older too, and your in way better shape. I thought you said you were going to stop and wait for me to catch up....................damn!!!!!!

Re: Tom Gould the Birthday Boy

Hi Bob, yes it's still the original Lunati. I have over a 1000 runs on it now. Seems to me like Lunati charged me $25 for that cam. I believe I have gotten my moneys worth. On the other hand my 10 year old M&H cheater slicks are starting to fade on me. Guess I'll have to start running the 2 year old MTs full time.

I'm not going. I'm hoping to make my D-1 appearance at the Atco points meet in June. I don't know about Billy!
