Top/gt
With the greater numbers of GTA,B,C cars currently running would there be an interest in a Heads up TOP/GT race? Wt could be at B wt. to allow max numbers to join. Heads up Pro tree. NO BREAK OUT at an OPEN event? Thoughts?

Re: Top/gt
I'd love to see someone put this together. I was bummed that I missed the CIC race in Belle Rose. That looked like so much fun.
The problem for me is it would have to be out west and I know most of your events tend to be on the east coast. Dan Mason GT/BA |
Re: Top/gt
i know one GT car that would be all over this

Re: Top/gt
How about a Jr GT class for GT/D E F or G cars too?? A hell of alot of cars in those classes.

Dick
I agree with Stefan there are a lot of those mid class GT cars. You could count me in. |

Re: Top/gt
Can all the Top this and that....just combine the classes a,b,c, ...d,e, f, and run 'em at all races. That's where it is going anyway.

Re: Top/gt
Rich, I hope you are right. Just look at the consolidation of the fuel injected cars in stock. Initially many people on this forum thought the carb cars would have this huge disadavantage, but the reality is they seem to be basically even.
IMO, Shaul winning stock at the Vegas race was the perfect example of what stock and ss should be. He won a couple of bracket rounds and I think 4 heads up rounds to bring home the trophy. S and ss should be a true mix of bracket and heads up races not 99% bracket and 1% heads up as it is with the current excessively classed system. I love the idea of a Top GT race because it puts the class back in class racing. Really, I'd love to see a CIC race or some kind of GT/A-B-C and GT/D-E-F combo race at the Sportsnationals in Fontana. Mike Rice would never do it, but it sure would be fun. |
Re: Top/gt
Instead of running Class as we know it maybe a Sportsnationals run on consolidated ABC, DEF, GHI could run. Less class trophies and more sponsor money to win class. Back to More Heads up racing....but with Everyone having a chance to do it again not just TOP classes. Yes I think it would be good as I have said and as we see many people voice a definite interest in having a chance to do it too...

Re: Top/gt
This is just my opinion of the baddest of the bad; if Andy Fogle is on his game there's not another GT/AA car in the country from what I have seen that can beat him. I am really suprised they didn't pickup that win in class at Atlanta but that goes to show anything can happen and the fastest car doesn't always win.

Re: Top/gt
Thats alot of weight juggling for a Sports Nationals, maybe they should try it at an open.

I say do it Friday NIght under the lights at the Northern SportsNats. No qualifying just random draw for 1st rd. Laddered after that. Then they could still run class on sat. Friday night should be Top/Stock, Jr/Stock, Top/GT, & Jr/SS. Jr/SS 10lbs wt br. Gt and Traditional SS run together. Traditional (use old GT rule of pre 81 cars & must have legal motor for year & car) cars get 100lbs wt brk. Sticks and autos together. |

Re: Top/gt
Actually Chad...I went an 8.97 in Belle Rose, I even dialed it right on the money! And when we set the record that weeekend before in Houston we would have had the record in the eights but we didnt get another pass. That 9.02 was off the trailer, actually I was getting the chassis certified and they called SuperStock to the lanes. So we didnt even have time to get the car ready.

Tony sold his car, he's done. Dont forget Gary Richards, Bo Kenney, Sean Cour,Joe Garbarine and a few other guys that will be fast this year. |
Re: Top/gt
I'll bet Jim Boburka would be interested in this also! I'd put him up against any of those aformentioned racers!! Jerry Silveus would also be a player!!
As for Jr/SS I think Byron and Angelo would be 2 of my favorites!!! |
Re: Top/gt
Bryan, it would be interesting....

Re: Top/gt
Count us IN ! GT/ D, E & FA.
|
Re: Top/gt
Don't forget the big block guys. Stinnett is an obvious overlooked choice in gt/aa.
No one will be able to run with Grossi when he gets back out again. Mark my words. Anyone know who bought Cretella's car? |
Re: Top/gt
Hey Dan, I heard their adding four parachutes to the Grossi car............Frank may need one as well for the decent back from LEO (Low Earth Orbit)............if they can't keep the car on the ground.

Why dont we all run heads up in practice for all the classes at every points race instead of practice? At very least we could do it ourselves and line up against each other? Just for fun? |
