Edgewater Raceway Park
I can't remember if I posted this link or not but these pictures were taken by Bill "Redman" Floyd at Edgewater Raceway Park over the years. The pictures range from Junior Stock to Top Fuel and I will be adding more as time allows.

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
That was a "local" track for us for years. We ran the weekly SS program with some of the cars pictured in these photos. When the air was good the track was great if the air was hot and humid it was REALLY slow. I dont think it has kept up to specs. Some good guys worked it too. I think of Harvey....... who worked everywhere....

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
I hate to say it but I do remember almost all of these cars. I raced at Edgewater in the early 60's and they had the first tree that I saw. It sat on a trash can and I think it had only 2 or 3 lights and a sweep hand clock on the tower. Great Pictures Red Man. Steve

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Ok...this track has had several owners over the years; who can remember "Gentleman Jim" Settles or, has been there after a rainstorm and East Miami River Road (and the track) flooded?
There was a storm that passed through cancelling the race, "Gentleman Jim" didn't plan on giving any rainchecks, until everyone gathered at the base of the tower and wouldn't let him out... |
Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Dick....you must be speaking of Harvey Bond. Never saw anyone work the stagin lanes like him. Tom Longeneckers 57 Chevy brings back old memories. I raced him several times at Pences for the $$$ in 1970. Also the 63 Dodge that belonged to Tom Fox. "The Fox" Dean Karns and Leo Lopez with the Vette. I remember when that car was lime green and Hamby was Leo's partner. Nice pics....

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Behemoth page 28.. Killer driver and car.... Saw him run 2 out of 3 against Boertman for S eliminator at Saginaw due to clock problems....Everyone stood on top of trailers to watch... 11:00 at night. What a show. Dont remember the winner . I think it was Boertman...1971 or 2
Kyle Marshall "Hustlin Hoosier" T/S Silver 66 283 page 29 good friend and Great driver of stick. Had 57 Panel truck on previous page... Kyle Brothers 69 Camaro when they really became competitive. They bought motor from Truppi and Kling in Jersey and began to dominate locally with Danny driving. Won the Division....They still run competitively in SS. |
Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Behemoth was owned and driven by Bob Burkitt the 1969 Stock World Champion. The car is now in Division 1.

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Happy to hear that everyone is enjoying the pictures. All the credit should go to Redman though. He was kind enough to send me the pictures and allow me to put them in an online album for everyone to see. I still have quite a few to crop and photo shop that I will be adding to the album and hopefully Redman will be sending more pictures in the future.

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Hello guys. Looking for some help. I purchased a 1967 Yenko Camaro. It is Black with red interior. It raced at this park. Had 427 cross flag emblems on the front fenders, white bumblebee stripe on front end, and white pinstripes on the sides. It might have had a white vinyl top also. May have been raced by a guy named Don Zimmerman? Not sure on the first name. I was told he lived on a farm in or near Cincinnati. Car had a 4 pin lift off hood at one time with a big scoop. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Edgewater Raceway Park
Any info on the Duster in photo #428. Have seen this photo and don't remember Stepp or anyone else running it. Just crious. BTW, Dewey Cook could drive anything and usually did. I remember him driving a U/stock wagon at Bluegrass and waving at us watching from the pits as he went by. He was holding on when he drove Stepp's cuda in B/MP!!!
