headlight ??

Re: headlight ??

Probably got some moisture up inside it Greg. Get it dried out, and might have to silicone seal it. I know this is what we have had to do before on the Firebird tail lights.

Try your local hobby shop for some plastic polish , Tamiya Finish Polish if they have it.

If the cloudiness is on the outside try TOOTHPASTE--It will do a great job too---takes a little while but just put it on and rub/buff it with a damp---NOT SOAKING WET cloth---any brand of toothpaste will work just use the stuff in a tube----Comp 387

Greg,
If i'ts on the outside you can recondition it with a headlamp reconditioning kit. You can most likely find one online. The brand we use is from Bright Solutions.

I just fixed the same problem on my Lexus and used Meguiar's PlastX. It is a clear plastic cleaner and polish; in a nut shell, it restored them better than new. It was very easy to use and did both front headlight lenses in 5 minutes. It worked so good that although they are red, I did the rear lenses too.

Re: headlight ??

Greg,
Was the light oem or aftermarket. If thr repair was an insurance claim you may be able to go back to the repair shop and speak to them about the problem. Our aftermarket suppliers would warranty such a problem. OEM replacement is usually more difficult but most of the time can be warrantied as well.

Now we get "the rest of the story" LOL. Jeff is right, if your Ins Co told you where to get it repaired and what parts to use, they should stand behind the repairs ( usually a practice of State Farm, Nationwise,Progressive ). If you chose the shop, it's between you and the shop.
Our policy is to never tell the owner where to get repairs done, that way we're not responsable for any problems they may have with the shop

Yup, Bud is correct. Depends on the situation and who wrote the estimate.

Re: headlight ??

If the exterior surface of the headlight has yellowed, take a piece of 2000 grit sand paper and sand the plastic surface of the light. Then take Mequiers #2 rubbing compound and rub it out. You may have to do it twice. Then coat it with a good carnuba wax. I did it to my 94 Escort. It came out very nice.
