Milan national event hospitality

After watching a few pairs of first round of Hot rod cars go down the track, I returned to my car at the back of the lanes, I proceeded to check the air in my tire. Before I moved to the other tire I was told by the IHRA official to move up in the lanes. After him me acknowledging him, and him hinting of throwing me out, to make a longer story shorter....as I started to move up..... I said that "NHRA is looking better and better." Then he said to me "Don't let the door hit in the ***** on the way out." I was thinking wow IHRA is really a sportsman friendly drag racing association. IHRA is supposed to be the more "sportsman friendly" body and I dont see it. In a economy where car counts are down, and it is not looking good in the future you would think a sanctioning body would take care of the racers they have not encourage them to leave!!

You Would Also Think That The Racers Would Cooperate And Do As Was Asked To Do .we Had All Rod Cars And Et Cars Coming Out Of The Same Side.that Means Keeping The Lanes Pulled Up For The Next Class .you Were Watching The Race As You Posted And Should Have Been With Your Car As "everybody" Else Was! You Need To Try Standing In The Lanes All Day Trying To Keep Everything Straight And Orderly. I Have To Answer To The Tower And Have Cars Ready To Go Down The Track. I Am Sorry This Upsets You So Bad ,but I Have A Job To Do .it Seems You Were The Only One Not Cooperating .you May Try Being Nice A Little And You May See That Everyone Is Not Out To Get You.

Re: Milan national event hospitality

it was our 1st IHRA event since 2005 and I thought it was fine...DW sr is a pretty good guy and if he told you to move up.....you were probably holding things up....there's a lot of things going on at these races and you have to have respect for the schedule there trying to run....by keeping the gap closed in front of you....now since we've determined you were wrong on this one....I think an apology is in order....lol

DW senior is a frequent visitor to this site....so it was nice to get this one closed quickly....

Still, DW response was rude as a representative to that saction or any other. He could have simply explained to him why he needed him to move. I also agree that common sense would have been to keep the flow going. I see a lot of racers holding up the program.

Re: Milan national event hospitality

I was not trying to hold anything up, nor did I hold anything up. I was also the last car in that line so I was not holding anyone else up. And everyone knows I am such a REBEL and look for trouble at all the races I attend.

If that comment wound have been made to me I would've turned right around and loaded my stuff up and hit the road. Racing should be fun and really is a guy checking his tires gonna hold up the program...not likely what does it take 30 seconds.

You have no idea how hard it is to sit here and keep my mouth shut, like I probably should. My dad works his tail off at these races and tries to make everyone happy. I know there is a high level of stress involved, working sometimes 14 to 18 hour days. Am I going to side with my dad, HECK YEAH! Right or wrong, I'll always stand behind him. We both have lots of freinds at the track, and I hope it stays that way. Mr. Miller, the side of him you saw is not the way he is about every situation and/ or every person by any means at all. I'm sorry you guys got off on the wrong foot and I am quite sure, if you are the nice guy you say you are, then you, him, I and everyone would all get along just fine. With that being said, I myself am sorry the incident occured as it did. I say that because I carry the Waters name with pride and do my best to keep my name and reputation out of the mudd. I hope that you can both get over this situation and get on with it.

Sincerely,

Danny Waters, Jr.

I'm thinking the comment about NHRA was unnecessary. These guys get to the track early in the morning and leave after all of the racers have started their evening festivities. And on top of it all they do it for peanuts! They are there because they love IHRA so a comment like that deserved the reply you recieved!

What I posted was only going to fuel the fire and of no benefit to this network and I apologize to Mr Miller and anyone else offended.

But, let me say this…….. I’m dauuuum sure that if Mr Miller had a trans customer that was having some issues and the customer never contacted him first about it to get it straightened out ……but instead went to the internet and started bashing him and the quality of his work, he would be outraged to say the least. Mr. Miller needs to think about this a bit IMO.

As I stated I don’t know the Watters boyz from “dittley” ( although I did take notice of a dauuum nice dragster that had had the name “Danny Watters jr on it while on my morning walk ) .

A quick phone call would have straightened this out from the get go.

Nuff said

you don't have to run IHRA, you don't have to run NHRA. there are jerks at both santioning bodies, D.W. is NOT one of them!

Amen........

Lets move on......

Re: Milan national event hospitality

This whole thread is horse****. This whole thing started from a smart ***** comment and that always leads to other poorly chosen words. DW and all of the IHRA officials are the reason MOST people say IHRA is sportsman racer friendly. Go tell NHRA that IHRA looks good and see what you get.

Fuzz - I am not even in the Rock Haas fan club, so I better get off of his site.

Actually, if you said something like that to an NHRA official, you'd be risking yourself a suspension and a fine. One comment would probably be let go, but a good buddy of mine was suspended (and then later taken off suspension and put on probation after paying the $350 appeals fee and going through the official hearing) for getting in a verbal spat with one of the NHRA officials (no profanities were used either in that instance).

My personal feeling is that both parties were in the wrong. So, lets kiss and make up boys...

Case closed with me . I for one have always tried to get along with everyone .I also am sorry it has turned out like it has .Like you say this is a sport we all love or we would not be doing it if this was not true .Why can't we all just get along .Worked Mooresville div. this past weekend and enjoyed every minute, even if it was over 90 degrees Sunday .D.W. OUTTT with a smile ! see ya at PIEDMONT!

That D.W. is always a class act and that goes for the whole IHRA bunch. Thanks guys for your time and patience. You all are great..
Looks like there was only one unhappy camper there. Ever think it was your fault and not Danny's. How many times did he have to ask you to pull up.
None better than Danny Waters.
GOOD OL' MR. WILSON
