Racer Seating Section At Route 66
Rock
Has anything been said about the racers sitting at the end of the South stands, or are we getting kicked out the 1000 ft stands? I see by the fact sheets on DRC the ticket prices at 66 went up and kids12 and under are now $16.00. Hmmm Less car's showing up and more money to get in ????????? Remember it is all for the fans to have a good show???? |
Re: Racer Seating Section At Route 66
Speaking of getting in, is there anything I need to know or do. Like I said this is my 1st NHRA National and this thread in DRR has me kinda whigging out.
http://drr.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/t...2/m/7251071573 I think I have everything in line, pre entered, car numbered and renewed, teeth flossed, boxers not briefs, tounge hanging out slightly to the left, and above all else ready to move when the official tells me too. Anything else?? :) |

Re: Racer Seating Section At Route 66
Damien,
You'll be fine. Since you're pre-registered you should be on "the list" when you get there. But, take a copy of your receipt just in case. Once you're parked, get to credentials ASAP and get that crap out of the way. IMHO, going through credentials at an NHRA race takes WAY too long. Maybe its because they do credentials all night at IHRA races, but I can't ever remember standing in line for credentials at an IHRA race for over 10 minutes. Plan to spend at least 30 minutes at credentials in Chicago, and that's if everything goes smoothly. From there, be polite, keep your head down, and keep your mouth shut around the NHRA staff and you'll be fine. Seriously, its not that bad, but do as you are instructed, be polite (I can't stress this enough), and it will be like any other race. Good luck at your first NHRA national event! |
Re: Racer Seating Section At Route 66
Oh, and I hadn't heard about the Jim Hughes fiasco until you posted that thread to the DRR message board. All I can say is that I'd bet my year's salary I know who the woman was that slammed the window shut on Jim (it wouldn't be the first time it happened, and it wouldn't be the first time it happened in a situation as ludicrous as this).
I sure would love to hear this story directly from Jim... |
Re: Racer Seating Section At Route 66
stop freaking Damien out.....its not that bad.....
the long line at the credential trailer has got to change.....one woman in particular has to go...(whatever you do ...turn in your credentials before you race...even if they tell you to come back later...and you come back later..and you still can't turn them in....break the window and turn in your stuff..because you could get thrown out and treated like a criminal...Crucified before all the facts are out......The Advisory Council meeting should be interesting) come and see me Damien....I can point you in the right direction....(it will probably be my turn to get thrown out)... Thanks for the info guys. I was pretty much just wondering what paper work the DRR topic was referring to. I'm really not that worried about it. If I get a chance I'll look ya up Rock. Pat, your right, remembering things is a simple thing to do, like remembering to check your mirrors before you make a turn!! :D

Re: Racer Seating Section At Route 66
The deal with Jim Hughes being tossed at Topeka was a really raw deal. IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!!! I was there and racing SG also and witnessed it.
NHRA has a problem with organization and just won't face reality. We stood in line for about one and a half hours without the window even being opened as they had run out of credentials/tickets. The story was all the credentials/tickets were shipped to Chicago instead of Topeka. I can tell you from experience the same thing happened last year. The only difference was NHRA discovered it a day earlier last year and overnighted them back a day earlier last year. After standing in line for the hour and one half NHRA came up with 60 credentials/tickets. We managed to be in that 60 and got thru the line but did get a photo copy of a parking pass for driving into the track. I later observed a long, long line at the credential trailer with no progress. I was told by a person in that long line that the racers were told to take their paperwork to the staging lanes when called to make a time trial. I did not see anyone checking the paperwork in the lanes or collecting any of it. It is hard for me to believe an organization like NHRA can be so disorganized. Jim was tossed but offered his entry fees back. Getting money back from NHRA never happens so it tells me NHRA thinks they may not be entirely correct on this one. We can not stand in line to get our payout checks but we can stand in line hours for credentials. Go Figure!!!!!!! Been There |
