Wow, does this guy go all out or what?

That's the difference between having a racer run a drag strip as opposed to some slick headed promoter.

Re: Piedmont Block Party

We had heard about this little shindig and just assumed we weren't invited - ha ha - just kidding! We're looking forward to being there for the party - and appreciate you guys putting this on.

Brownies - no nuts? :)

Angela Macy 06-04-2008 12:11 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

So you want "Female Brownies" not "Male Brownies?? :D :D :D

Actually I was thinking of making two big pans of these two desserts - they're both easy to tote to a "party", easy and quick to make, and both are nice cold summer time appropriate desserts. Both go over very well too.

Eclair Cake - a pudding based dessert..see recipe here http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Eclair-Cake/Detail.aspx

Strawberry Pretzel Dessert - sounds weird but its really good... see recipe here http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Strawbe...-2/Detail.aspx

Are you going to be there Myron??

I love you. :D lol

Eclairs are to die for.

We used to do picnics at Beaver Springs Dragway where everybody brought a covered dish. Y'all ain't never eaten so good... especially the desserts!

TNT from 6-9 20.00 a car.

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Scott only married me so I could foot the bills - ha ha (that's an inside joke, LONG story!). Seriously I think it was a combination of being able to cook and knowing the firing order of a small block chrysler ;)

Good idea Michael - next time you guys do one of these little things, you could do it like a potluck - you guys provide the chicken and let everyone bring sides and desserts - thats makes for some good eatting - and a girls best friend for finding new yum-o recipes! Plus then you guys don't have all the expense to cover.

1) Yes................... :o this line of discussion can get real "colorful", but I'll just leave it at that!

2) Sounds sort of like a version of a Boston Creme Pie!

3) Yes, I'll be there in I/CM
.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ................
just kidding! :p I'll be there , but in "J", and on my way to Budds Creek.

Angela Macy 06-04-2008 07:13 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

So will we!! ((be in J)) - ok so I'll save you some dessert then. Yeah - I think its like Boston Creme Pie - but still it tastes like eclairs, yummy in my tummy! So what do you do Monday thru Thursday in between Piedmont and MIR?? Depending on how things are next week we're thinking of going up Thursday morning and getting parked, then taking the rest of the afternoon and seeing the sites - I hear there is shore line 2 miles behind our hotel.

P.S. Just kidding about the j thing ;)

Re: Piedmont Block Party

lol I was already getting ready to look up your phone # before I finished reading!

I'm staying with Mike & Jill, but going up to Don Dimeler's Monday. Not quite sure what I'll be doing before Budds Creek yet. I'm tired and I haven't even left yet! Hope the Weather Channel is wrong about highs in the mid-90's at Piedmont! I'm trying to get away from the heat! :(

Angela Macy 06-04-2008 09:37 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

'fraid not - got an email from EMS today at work about a heat wave coming through
:( . It shouldn't be too bad though - it's not like your going to put a jacket on and get in a car and roll the windows up or anything.....oh wait.... :D

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Yea, last check shows Friday is the worst day at 99. Then a cold front comes through and drops the temps. to a nippy 97 on Sat. and 96 on Sunday. :p

There should be a lot of "drinking" this weekend!
But I'm looking forward to it. It's been many years since I've been there and Herb's asked me a few times. :)

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Hmmmmm, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2... Maybe there is hope for me after all. Ha ha! Anyway, I am going to TRY to bring a Hershey Bar Cake or a Honey Bun Cake. Maybe both. I am not big on making cheesecakes either. That is what the Cheesecake Factory is for. =) Oh yeah, Happy Late Birthday, Herb!

Myron Piatek 06-04-2008 11:01 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Will all the "good food", it looks like we won't have to worry about being light on the scales during the race! :p

Angela Macy 06-05-2008 08:22 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Are you talking the Hershey Bar cake that the icing is whip creamed based with chocolate shavings in it?? Those are yum-o. Also the honey bun cake is too - both will be yummy in my tummy.

Cheesecakes are one of them things that its cheaper to buy one at Cheesecake Factory (or whereever) and it tastes just as good as one I would make, actually better since they're a pain to make. So why bother?

Hillarey Sloan 06-05-2008 09:30 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Yep, Angela, that is the one. It is supposed to be four layers, but I think I will just make a big sheet cake instead since there are so many people. Can't wait...see you there.

Angela Macy 06-05-2008 10:09 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

I agree sheet cake is the way to go - I've seen that cake done that way and its just as good, not as pretty but more efficient for feeding multiple people with it. Easier to transport as well.

Hey, I hear Jamie Southards makes a "mean" pasta salad. Maybe we could talk her into making one for us. (Inside Joke) Sorry, Jamie, I couldn't resist.

Thanks Hillarey! LOL! Tim will be the first one in line for it too!!! I know he will want seconds,,, so I better make extra!!!

Angela Macy 06-05-2008 08:30 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

We have one eclair cake complete and two of the three layers of the Strawberry dessert complete - one more to go. We just turned on our air conditioner today (believe it or not) and it's taking a while for the house to cool down, I'm freaking hot as heck. Glad I picked minimal oven required desserts.

Anyhoo, I've got to hear the "mean" pasta salad story. Sounds interesting...

Hillarey Sloan 06-05-2008 11:23 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Jamie made some pasta salad at Kinston a couple of years ago, and lets just say it didn't turn out so well. I am pretty sure she ended up throwing it away it was so bad. Just giving her a hard time. =) In her defense it was one of those pasta salad kits. Oh, and one Hershey Bar cake ready to go, and I didn't even burn it. ;)

Angela Macy 06-06-2008 07:13 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

OH those kits are nasty - I made one before and wasn't impressed at all - all the veggies in there are like freeze dried or something.

I also managed to complete two desserts without any major disasters. I remember the first time I made the strawberry dessert one I ended up messing it up bad and had to start all over.

Myron Piatek 06-07-2008 06:48 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Dear Angela, ;)

Thank you very much for the eclair and strawberry cakes at the track Friday. Everybody I talked to, (who found them behind the tea dispenser), loved them! Too bad there wasn't more to go around. I heard Beard hung around for seconds then licked the pans clean when the last pieces were gone!

We'll have to talk to Hillarey about the Hersey cake. She was busy making time runs so maybe she still has it hidden at the trailer! (Unless Beard got to it and didn't tell anyone!)

...and thank you for the good food Herbie! That was appreciated too!

Angela Macy 06-07-2008 07:25 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

Dear Myron, ;)

You're very welcome and I'm glad you found them and got some. I didn't hang around to watch 10,000 people fight over two cakes. :D I was afraid for my own safety - ha ha. I hear Hillarey's cake is being hoarded in her motorhome, maybe if you ask nicely.....:)

Good luck today

Myron Piatek 06-07-2008 10:32 PM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

lol Yea, Scott needs to keep an eye on you because you might get kidnapped for your baking/cooking skills!

As a matter of fact, I went to Hillarey's trailer looking for her cake. Sure enough, it was there. They started on it, but there was plenty left. She even delivered it to our pit because she was afraid I wouldn't have made it there on my bike without dropping them. (She was probably figuring Mike wouldn't get his share if I left with both!:p)

Ya know, all those cakes were so good, it was really hard to decide which one was better than the other. You all will have to make some more for the next Pro Am we all attend so we can figure that out! :)

Only problem is, I have to decide if I want another piece of cake, or if I want to "beat" her first round! :o

Angela Macy 06-08-2008 09:13 AM

Re: Piedmont Block Party

No worries on kidnapping, ask Michael Beard about the freaks and geeks who follow me around in Walmart. They get the scare of their life :) Seriously though, if I got kidnapped they'd return me and beg Scott to take me back :D

So who won the combo race last night? We were out 2nd round and dying from the heat - we came home and chilled out in the ac.

P.S. - Hillarey's cake was very yummy in my tummy :) :) :)
