In-car video
This in-car video was shot from the Atco Jr. Stock final. It's me vs. Steve Ficacci Jr., and his 10.85 beats my 10.87. There is also a neat dual in-car (both he and I) on youtube that Mike Ficacci set up. Just search (Evan Smith Jr. Stock).

Awesome in car footage. Thanks for sharing.

Re: In-car video
That is nice!!! Sure looks like you clicked it before the finish line?
|
Re: In-car video
Jr. Stock runs on a .500 Pro-Tree, and it is heads-up, no breakout. Ficacci was ahead and pulling me slightly so I did click it just before the first cone (err.. foam block).
Jr. Stock is also run on the 11.0 weight break and any NHRA Stockers can run. Evan |

Re: In-car video
I have watched several videos, and tons of runs at the tracks. Always enjoyed watch stick cars. That was the best in car I have seen, and now I want a stick car even more. God, That looks like fun. I know its a good deal more work, but man.....
|
Re: In-car video
Love it man! Of course I have no sound at work to listen. The all time best video though is the Steve Ficacci video on YouTube. Bangs 3rd gear and the visor hits him in the head. HAHAHA. The best sounding 396 on the planet barr none!!

Re: In-car video
I love that video! But Evan, I don't understand one thing. Why does the track go our of view and all you see is sky when you launch? My car doesn't do that? Interesting. Jim

Re: In-car video
Neat vid Evan. I always wanted to try something like that in my car. I might be afraid what I see with the shift light though. :) Not to mention where I would mount it!
|
Re: In-car video
Awesome! Makes me wish I had a 5-speed. I think I need to petition NHRA.
Dear NHRA, Seeing that you gave all the 2-speed auto trans racers an extra gear, I feel the same should apply to the 4-speed stick racers. You already gave 4-speed acceptance to 3-speed (manual) only vehicles so to be fair, any car can ad one extra forward gear. Evan, what is your launch and shift RPM on this video? I can also tell your Advanced Clutch is dialed in perfectly, at least from my audible perspective. Engine pulling down on launch and shifts is barely detectable; if at all. Yes, you definetly have that clutch dialed in! :) |
Re: In-car video
Killer! The sweetest sounding 5-OH ever! Thanks for sharing.

Re: In-car video
Evan,
Excellent video. Love the stick cars, even the Fords! LOL Bob Rice |
Re: In-car video
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY a run from INSIDE a stick car !!! That little Ford is just evil |
Re: In-car video
All,
Thanks for the positive feedback and I'm glad everyone likes the video. In addition to my role as editor of MM&FF, I also serve as a senior editor on Super Chevy and we have a full feature on Aubrey's '62 coming up soon. This is a very cool and unique Stocker. Evan |
Re: In-car video
Evan -- Pretty cool stuff -- you make it look easy enough that I might want to put the clutch pedal back into my GTO and start rowing a 6 speeder . On second thought I think I'll leave the stick stuff to you "young" fellas...........makes me remember the "good ole days" .

Evan,
Really neat video. Thanks for sharing it. The guys get to see what you and I do with our G-Force trannys. |
Re: In-car video
I believe it is the August issue of SC, which is on the newsstand right now. It has an orange Nova on the cover.

Do you also add 170 pounds for the driver? |
Re: In-car video
Yes. It is run on the "G" break so any car can run at the G/S or G/SA minimum regardless of what class you are in.
|
Re: In-car video
Thank you for the "plug", Evan !
I'm just starting to re-assemble my engine right now. Hopefully, I got the valve train stability problem looked after. Also got a new Quick Time bell housing. VERY happy with that part !!! I DID manage to get the traction dillema sorted out last year... just before I shattered a Schubeck lifter. now, I have to go watch this video AGAIN ! |

I love seeing in car footage..
and that was great, especially the PIP. Sorry if a bracket video offends anyone here, but this car is too cool not to post.

Re: In-car video
Dinsdale, That is a beautiful Fairlane. Nice video. Runs like a Superstock D car ( 67 Fairlane 427's still run SS/D), and it works great. Gary Simpers has a 67 Fairlane wagon Stocker, almost that same color.
|
Re: In-car video
Thanks for sharing the video Evan. Love the in-car shots, especially when it includes a wheel stand, :)
Rick |
The Fairlane isn't my car, but
belongs to a buddy who races in our Stick Shift class. I have a 67 Mustang 427, Jerico that I'm slowly getting to work decent. It's run better than this pass, (9.83 @ 136.78 MPH) but this is my best 60' so far (1.39) so I still have a ways to go.
