What a shame.....
Bo gets bounced in a awesome car because the crankshaft didnt LOOK right.. But Defrank has an illegal carb that has the 4-corner idle circuit and gets to race, and told just have it fixed by the next race. Must be that west coast rule book in action again. Hey Bo, i guess Defrank can get away with it since he lives about a mile or two from the "head of tech", so he probly cuts his grass for him. Two years ago Travis Miller wouldnt tech Billy's car in because it had 4-corner idle and didnt come that way from the factory. Well, the camaros didnt either but the west coast rule book wins again.

Re: What a shame.....
The point is two years ago NHRA got all over everyone about it, TWO years ago. Thats more then enough time to fix the carb on that car. Hell, did they even race it back then? If they didnt that means it was built wrong in the first place. They just want to try and pick on people. Maybe NHRA's problem is the name on Bo's and Monty's cars. If so then they need to speak up and say it. This is america, if i want to sit outside the gate at VMP or even go in the gate at VMP and say F#*k NHRA. They cant throw me out. Maybe ill renew my number, run VMP in super stock and have that decal made and stick it in the back window of the car, and see what they say about that. I guess if you have an LS1 in NHRA, you better not race. That GM casting number on the crank must be wrong and if they see it they'll take it.

Re: What a shame.....
Duane...regarding the Holley carburetor...Holley's ad in their website is very misleading. They show a legal replacement carburetor for Stock and Super Stock, however, they show a carburetor with four corner idle.
http://www.holley.com/types/Competition.asp Then look at the specific carburetor, with the choke plate, however, you cannot see if it has the idle screws in the rear. Interestting is the carburetor does not have the choke linkage, but if you look at the tower, there is a drilled hole to lock the choke plate in the open position. Open up this page: http://www.holley.com/0-4609-1.asp This is the specific carburetor...NHRA approved for Stock and Super Stock... http://www.holley.com/data/products/...ge0-4609-1.jpg |
Re: What a shame.....
so thats like the chevy getting an edelbrock head with a gm casting number. the ford getting the same head but hp wont change the class on the ford just the chevy. sounds like west coast bs to me.

Re: What a shame.....
SSDiv6: The Holley carb you are referring to is a 735 CFM for Ford applications, so I'm not sure how that relates to DeFrank's situation. Even so, where does it say that carb has 4 corner idle? If you open the technical information link on the page you posted there is a side view picture of the carb and it does not have idle adjustment screws in the secondary metering block. How is the ad misleading?
|
Re: What a shame.....
Its not really misleading if you read it. Its a write up for competition carbs. They chose one to picture then explained the differences. The page states that the 4609-1 does not have 4 corner idle. It also states that the 4609-1 does not have the choke plate removed. There are several carbs referenced on the page.

Re: What a shame.....
ed be gone leave this to people who actually race cars that this topic is being discussed by, or have some type of dealing with the cars that are involved.
|
Re: What a shame.....
ed you need to know FACTS before you state anything about someone. one day we WILL cross paths and im sorry if i get kicked out of either NHRA or IHRA were going to have a talk. Besides why would it be allowed for defrank to run a 4 corner idle circuit on the carb and no one else? got to be that lawn care company he runs on the side.

Re: What a shame.....
Anyone know what the deal was with the exhaust port in the 396 head? Nothing to compare it to? Anyone else need there lawn mowed in cali? You know who to call right? For the record air at Mir my last pass was 2900 feet went 97 mph in the 1/8 guess what today at darlington it was 3500 foot and went 97 again in the 1/8. Explain that.
