Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
This was a hot rumour about 25 years ago as well.

Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
Back in 1984, about this time of the year, NHRA announced and printed in National Dragster that for 1985 all races in all classes would be run 1,000 ft. That never came about, but this is 2008, and I see things happen now I thought would never happen, so who knows.

Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
At that point why not just race to the 1/8......THIS IS RIDICULOUS if that happens I will go back to Bracket Racing.......POINTLESS BULLSHYT
|
Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
I am with Chris, and if they shorten brackets to 1,000 ft. I will start going around in circles............anyone know a good stagger set up for a vega wagon?

Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
I hope this is just a RUMOR. Drag racing was founded on 1/4 mile not 1,000 Ft. I understand that at SOME tracks it would be a good idea but not all tracks.

Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
We had a sportsman advisory council meeting on Thursday and I asked the question.....
and was told that it wasn't in their plan to change to 1000ft racing for everybody.....namely the sportsman..... CBS |
Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
Hey Rock....
Nice job in Indy!!! Check your email |
Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
Rock;
Thank you for taking the time to keep us informed about what goes on with the sportsman advisory council. I, and I'm sure many others here appreciate it very much. |
Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
I mean not for nothing, I understand the 1,000 foot rule was put into place to slow the cars down and give them more shut down room but, hell even at 1,000 feet Tony Shoe went 318mph. As far as I am concerned if something goes wrong even at 1,000 feet at 318mph you only have an extra 320 feet to slow down which is not much if you have an out of control racecar. I think if they make all the shutdown areas like what they did in Indy and Dallas and NC then 1320 racing should be ok.
PS - Great Job Rock and if anyone did not see if, Rock got some TV time also. I think it was the Semi-finals of PS Bike and they were interviewing Steve Johnson and in the background comes the Rock's Dragster and you got a good 3 second side shot of the car. |
Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today

Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
seems unlikely Gary....but at least you get something for going to a national.....
I think you will see TS and TD at select nationals....before you see additional S/ST races.... cbs |
Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
Would be happy if TD and TS ran at all the divisionals in D1.

Re: I heard a RUMOR in INDY Today
I used to go to the stands to watch Pro Stock every chance I got....... and then since I was already in the stands I would watch some Top Fuel and Funny Car, even though they are not my favorites....... now that they are only running to 1000 ft, I have no interest in watching them at all......... the Pro category now consists of Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike........ Top Fuel and Funny Car are now in the BY THE WAY category........
BRING BACK 1320 RACING!!!........ |
