Marty Rinehart Sr. underwent heart bypass surgery today. Marty Jr. says everything went well. Please keep Marty in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Marty Sr., along with his son Marty Jr. are owners and proprietors of Rineharts Performance in Thomasville
PA. They also campaign that sharp Super Stock E/A 69 Camaro in Division 1.

Today Saturday Sept.6,
Dad is still in ICU. He is doing very well and ahead of "normal" recovery. In fact, Just hours after he was in the recovery room, the first things out of his mouth was "Hows Morgan and Lexi holding up?" (my two daughters) and wanted to know about things outside the hospital. ie. weather, racing and the shop.
I will print off anything on this thread and from Maries sight to take to him at the York, PA Hospital. So feel free to write a note and I'll see that he gets it.

Marty -- Tell your dad he picked a great weekend to spend in the hospital as Hanna has made sure the Englishtown points meet was washed out today and if he was at home it would be the same .His friends here at the track are pulling for him and hoping for a speedy recovery...........

UPDATE: Monday, September 8

I visited with Mart at York Hospital for a few hours this afternoon. I am very pleased to report that my good friend and long-time partner is on track with respect to his recovery. He was somewhat tired today, but that's probably to be expected given the major surgery he's been through. He's in a regular room now and all the scary-looking tubes he was connected to after his surgery have been removed. A steady stream of family and friends have been at his bedside since the day he entered the hospital. The doctors and staff at York Hospital have been world-class in their concern for Mart and his family, answering every question as quickly as it could be asked. Mart's in good hands, and I anticipate that he will rejoin the Guest & Rinehart Super Stock team at Atco.

Mart and his family sincerely appreciate the many gestures of concern and support which they have received from the racing community.

UPDATE: Thursday, September 11

I spoke to Mart at about 1:00pm today and he told me that he was at that very moment packing his belongings so that he could begin the journey to his home later this afternoon. He is making reasonable progress recovering from his recent bypass surgery, but his doctors have said it will probably be 4 -6 weeks before he's really back on track.

Yesterday was Mart's birthday. Getting his discharge from the hospital seems like a pretty good birthday present, even if it is a day late!

Once again, the entire Rinehart family thanks all of you for your expressions of concern during the past few days.

I would like to thank everyone for all of your thoughts, Prayers, cards, phone calls and visits. I can't say enough how much that means to me to know how many people care. This really shows how much of a close knit family we really have at the race tracks. I'm not sure if I'll be attending anymore races this year with Marty and Larry, but I'm going to try hard to make it if I can. If not, I am going to have a long winter missing all of you and the fellowship that we all share.
Until then, have a safe rest of 2008 and I hope to see you all soon
