Anyone have a photo of his car out of New Jersey. I've never seen it. Ed

Re: Scott Gray SS/K Chevy II

Love seeing the 66 Chevy IIs, it was the first car I ever bought new (L79 SS). I have never had one since I enjoyed as much as it. In the 70s I built a 275hp automatic for F/SA at the time. I would still like to some day run a 350hp in stock but doubt that it would be a hot setup any more. Can still dream, keep the pics coming.

John Bubka has a nice blue '66 post Nova in Div 1. C/S 327/350 four-speed car. NHRA has it de-rated to 300 HP now.

Re: Scott Gray SS/K Chevy II

Thanks for the photo. The 300hp sounds good except the one thing that, in my opinion, kills them, is the small carburetor. The compression and heads do you little good with the small carburetor. A 275 hp with the Q-Jet would be about as fast, at one time they ran F/S. With the 350hp you would have to run a 4 speed as that was the only way they were sold. Food for thought.

Jim,
You're welcome. I think there was a discussion on here a while back about the 585 cfm carb being the problem with the 350hp combo. I've also heard that there might be a current Super Stocker working on this combo as we speak.

I'd still like to give one a good try before I belly up, but to run with a legal carburetor looks hard.

Yes, took last year off because of a very busy work schedule. He will make a few races this year hopefully .

Repro hood, must be a stamping flaw like all the casting core flaws in stock that make one manifold an inch taller than the other of the same casting #. or one set of heads different than others of the same # etc etc. Maybe in about a week or so when they make cowl hoods legal I'll buy one of those that fit better! Maybe when they allow me to use a bigger holley carb instead of the 4jet I wont need the clearance for the spacers. the 4jet should be allowed an aftermarket replacement anyway as the 13 screws that hold the airhorn on are tough to find lol.

Mr. Rice, you are right we are that current Super Stocker working on this combo surrounded by great individuals including Mike Roth MR2 Performance, The Wescott's and Mike Keown Racing. We are looking forward to this venture with all of these guys should be alot of fun and I think there is a Mustang waiting for me lol! We will be campaigning the 327/275/299HP for the beginning of the year and have the 350HP w/Holley ready for Indy.
