Another SS/B car to stir up...............

20 2427 SS/B Mike Heintz, Statesville NC, '69 Camaro 9.209 10.20 -0.991

Looks like he might make the this class more interesting than what it has already been.... How about pushing this class more, there is variety in this class as well as GT/AA

I got to say SS/B is one of the best stick classes out there and to me, top 5 of the SS classes in general.

Then there will be Dallas Kelly. I personally am anxious to see his car make a return to action. Long time off and long rebuild and prep. I have seen pictures and it WILL BE WORTH SEEING RUN>
MPR has done his usual or greater chassis work and Dallas has handled every piece of the motor personally and about every other piece too. I wish him the best luck . Not sure the debut date yet...

By the way this is TOP/SS wt and with more and more cars this class SS/B and BA will become a strong spot for people who dont want to just have a Cuda or Dart. Brand Name BIG SS cars are great...

Who bought Smiths VEtte? I heard it went west.

Bob I think it is the same car. He started a rebuild and Schmit was building a motor with him and chassis was being upgraded..I have not spoken to Ken lately.

I'm reading this post and so soon does everyone forget. JIMMY BRIDGES WON the U.S.NATIONALS in SS/B . Never estamate that old man. He has forgot more about racing than we all know. And he can't wait for the next go round.

That my opinion. And as Ed O'brien says HAVE A NICE DAY

If you have seen past posts about SS/B, i dont think a couple of us have forgotten Jimmy, I sure havent!! I was just implying that there is a new SS/B car that will be making it more interesting. Jimmy made it interesting when he told us he was goin to move up there...lol This guy has alot of tricks up his sleeve

p.s.
dang I wish we could get some weight out of our heap!!

I've watched Jimmy race for 40+ years, and have always enjoyed the way he goes after it. Thrilled to see him win another one.

Amen!

Lots of great cars and great racers in SS/B, but Jimmy will always be quite a challenge to beat! I always enjoyed watching Bridges vs. Schindler in SS/E class on many occasions. You could always count on a great race with those two. Hope to see Mike, Jimmy and many of the other great SS/B Chevys and Fords at the Gators!

The AMC AMX's run B now as well. You guys are right, it is getting to be quite an exciting class.

Re: Another SS/B car to stir up...............

I have my Eye on the SS/C AMX of Aris to keep up with the SS/B cars. Unfortunately, it doesn'y look like he can take enough weight out to drop to SS/B. Adkins SS/B AMX has seen 9 'teens. The stubborn old coot won't listen to me and purchase one of Rob's clutches! If he did, I would expect to see .05+ off of his ET. I sure would love to see the cross-ram legal for the '70 AMX!

Re: Another SS/B car to stir up...............

you could always make yours a '69.

Re: Another SS/B car to stir up...............

Jeff,
Seems like sending a letter works. 55 chevy has a 4 spd, a turbo trans. It seems reasonable to allow you a 2X4 set up.... The more the merrier..... Adkins works very hard and is gaining on them.....Jimmy Bridges deserves credit for INDY. I missed the show but winning Class at indy counts BIG...

I could but it takes a complete front clip with '69 front suspension, inner fenders, hood and grille. Most aren't aware of the complete revision to the front suspension in 1970...but NHRA is! And after ten + years of looking I finally have a pair of correct Holley carbs. Rare as hen's teeth. Had I found the carbs before I painted the car all purdy, I might have changed the front clip. Now it's kinda tuff to think about taking the sawzall to such a purdy car.

Dick Butler 09-16-2008 02:39 PM

Re: Another SS/B car to stir up...............

You could build another chassis and switch the good stuff and have a new second car....but the saws...all and upgrade is still cheaper to join the SS/B deal. Its only money and you cant take it with you...besides as someone on the site says "you cant put a price on a good time"
Be great if it was that easy wouldnt it...?
Come on 2 X 4s and the long winter to work at it and join SS/B by Pomona time..
I still get my mind making plans to rejoin SS racing and A or B would be the place ,

The Hemi Challenge was all that, and B/SA, A/stick and GT/AA were all barn burners, but my greatest anticipation was to see how SS/B was going to shake out.

All I had heard about and read about on the net was how a couple of T-bolts would be the favorites to take the class. I knew there would be a driver of a certain white Corvette that would have something to say about all of that.

If memory serves correct the 2 Bolts and Bridges were within about 7 thou of each other in qualifying. I was on the edge of my seat as Bridges took the final.

Nothing beats the class run offs at Indy, and congrats to Jimmy Bridges and his win.
