Stock 2007 Top Ten
Where are they now #1 Iacono is now #46; #2 Biondo not listed top 50; #3 J. Lang #15; #4 Plourd not listed top 50; #5 J Emmons not listed top 50; #6 Richardson #25;#7 Fletcher #30; #8 Zane now #1; #9 Bertozzi #49; #10 Henderson not listed top 50.
Only Five national events have been won by people in the top ten. It looks like taking away the button has helped us all have a better chance of beating the traveling "PROS". The "Pros" are still great racers but the repeatably of the great lights is reduced significantly. |
Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
I think lee has won about five nhra races this year
but you are right |
Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
Zane is a very good FOOTBRAKER.
I do agree with Larry though. Chip |
Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
Fletcher, Biondo, and Bertozzi have all been running a fair amount of Comp this year. Biondo has not really been traveling as much, I think Bertozzi has as eased up some as well. I haven't kept up with Fletcher. I think Biondo has won a couple of national events this year, and been runner up once or twice. I'd say they've all done fairly well, and they all probably need about a year or so to adjust. The odds of them continuing to be dominant constantly for an extended period of time are not really all that good, so a rough year or two is to be expected every so often. I would not say the "button rule" by itself is the controlling factor. It's likely to be a smaller contributing factor. And I was a major proponent of the "button rule" as it stands, except there are a couple of safety issues that require changes.
Some years, the breaks just don't go your way. All it takes is some bad luck to make a huge difference. Some years the qualifying strategy just doesn't work out as well at a couple more races than it did the year before. Some years you get by with more bad lights than you do others. Even guys like the ones we mentioned usually have at least one less than stellar light in most races. Whether or not some one is there to take advantage of that with a good light is mostly luck. A better statistical sample would be average reaction times and the deviations from that average. Maybe Nitro Joe will jump in, or maybe someone will pony up and pay him to. It would be interesting to know, but I've got other things I rather concentrate on. |

The Emmons boys aren't making as many races this year. I don't think the button change has hurt them.
Running a business and cleaning up after hurricanes can slow a guy's activities down. |
Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
The button rule has NOTHING to do with who is winning or not. Period. End of story. Many of the Top 10 from last year were already foot braking. Good racers adapt.

YIKES!!! Brad you took that personel??

Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
The respected racers Larry mentions in his post have for the most part been focusing on other classes or other items besides racing. I don't think the foot/button rule had much to do with their location in points this year. They were excellent racers last year and still are this year.
By the way Larry, I see you have been racing alot of events lately, are you becoming a "touring pro" yourself? |

Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
"Touring Pro" LOL now that's funny. We didn't race from June until Indy while we were working on the Cuda. Raced a little and now it is back to the drawing board to build a new engine. Hopefully we will get finished with it in time to get another couple of races this year. I am afraid that the "Touring Pro" will have to wait until we retire! If and when that ever happens!

Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
Larry, be careful of what you wish for, someday, it may come true for you and regrets are hard to dismiss and you'll be labeled for life !!! I guess then though, you can figure the difference ?????
Love the reports by the way, makes me wish I was there for the 'extra ciricular' activities as well. It'll be a while though, Valvoline has pulled the plug on all us sportsman guys, new marketing company sees no reason or payback to keep any of us, what a shame that is. |
Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
Sorry to heaar that Bernie. You Dan Fletcher and the Adcocks always represented Valvoline very professionally. You all gave them plenty of wins. I guess you can thank the sanctioning bodies for not promoting the sportsman catagories enough to give the sponsors enough bang for the buck.

Re: Stock 2007 Top Ten
Let's see..
Peter, not in the Top 50 although he does have 294 after attending ZERO Divisional races. Sounds like two wins and a R/U Nationally. What a terrible year. Fletcher, in the Top 50 with 409 points and only has 4 divisional races attended. A Div. win and he is in the Top 10. Richardson, 431 points and in the same boat as Fletcher with 4 div. races. G. and J. Emmons, only 3 Nat'l and 3 Div. races each. 349 and 275 points respectively. A couple of Div. wins, and you know that they can do it, puts them right in the running. Helms, 3 Nat'l and ONE Div. race nets him 302 points. 75.5 point average per race. What horrible years these racers are having. |

Obviously Ty did his homework and Larry did not. An Apple is not an Orange
