Who is going to the Dutch Classic?

Just trying to get a feel for who plans to attend the Dutch Classic next weekend. Hopefully the car counts will be high and a great time will be had by all.

Nitro Lounge is staying home; just cant justified spending $600 in gas to watch a race, don’t care how good it is.

Hemi Shootout will be a ok race, but if nobody finds a tenth or more its a 2 horse race out of same stable.
(might be last NHRA Hemi Shootout also rumor has it)

There were 21 cars last year for the Shootout; hopefully there will be, at least, close to that many this year. If Bucky Hess has his "good" engine; he may be able to get to within .05 or .06 of the Westcotts but other than that, as you say, it's a 2 horse race. After the Sportsnationals at Columbus, Charlie Sr. said that he and Jr. were going to Maple Grove to set the record. I believe that the quickest SS/AH run ever is 8.46 by Bucky Hess a couple of years ago; if the air conditions are typical for late Oct. in Pennsylvania, both Westcotts should run quicker than that, and Charlie Sr. might run 160 mph!

Leave the Comp. car home and bring the Stocker. I go to Indy every year for all 6 days of the race so, of course, I was there this year when you qualified #1 in Stock at 1.411 under. You certainly don't have any problems with the EF/S index, AHFS is a different story!

Hey Steve do exactly what Bill said, pull out the Escort and go to the Dutch Classic. Hell even I am going to drag the Buick down there.

Get there early, run for class. It will probably be a full field in Stock.

Assuming that, for the most part, it is a rain free event; can we also say fast with many National records set. It won't be that much colder, if at all, than it was at the Atco divisional Oct.3 - Oct.5, the sun won't be going down that much later either, and the car counts at Atco were exceptional. I don't expect the Dutch to be any different.

Larry -- Weather looks like its going to be less rainy in Reynolds than Reading -- both are calling for showers -- but we have the pretty leaves changing .This could be the first 'Classic I've missed in many decades............Only 850 miles to Reading -- Giddie-up ! ! !

Re: Who is going to the Dutch Classic?

Well, I think the rain has scared us off from driving 850 miles to sit in the motorhome on elimination day. Right now the weather is showing rain for Saturday night and Sunday.

Reynolds weather is showing that Friday is probably a total washout, but Saturday and Sunday look good.

Kansas City is probably going to be our best bet. They have a National Open there and are running Top Stock on Saturday. Looks like a little rain on Friday night, but then Saturday and Sunday look good. Only thing it is a Stock/Superstock Combo, which sometimes isn't as good for the stockers.

But Good Luck to all wherever you decide to race this weekend. It's great that we have a choice of races to go to.
