Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Well almost live as I'm not there yet but finally on my way .As I sit in the Newark Airport I've realized that in a few short hours I'll be doing the test n tune and I can't wait .Many of my D2 friends have told me that Reynolds is a very racer friendly place and even with some rain on the way it will be a nice event for everyone attending .
On another note - this will be the first time since sometime in the seventies that I've missed the PA Dutch Classic -- sure wish I could do both ! ! ! They just called for boarding.............later . |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
It is a racer friendly place. We'll head out tonight, after work, we just can't get away before then, so no test and tune for us. We'll see you there, look for the 2 69 Camaros at one trailer in Stock.

Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Hey Jack,
We almost went to Reynolds, too, so we could have posted together. But the rain kept us away. We decided to go to the open in Kansas City instead. We aren't in the running for points like you are, so we decided to go where the weather looked better and just have a good time. I see where you are entered for Pomona also. I guess you will be going to the Las Vegas points race, too. We wish you luck at all of those places. Reynolds is a very friendly place to go. We went last year and had a great time. I will be posting more later from Kansas City after we get on the road a little later today. Patsy |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Patsy, Better look at the SNOW prediction for Kansas. Up to a foot discussed last night on Weather channel. Not sure of day..... Good Luck.

Alan -- I'll keep an eye out for those Camaros Everyone --pray for me -- they just weighed my luggage and asked how much I weighed -- I'm afraid this puddle jumper may need some horsepower ............later -- if I make it to Macon . |

Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Jack, Only had one adult beverage last evening and I am sure they were talking a storm in the plains moving into Northwestern Kansas today and Nebraska. Weather .com confirms this prediction. Good Luck in Reynolds.

Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
I'm not much of a drinking man but after that plane ride I could really use a stiff one -- maybe even two ! ! Cruising altitude was a mere 3,000 feet (no,there's not a zero missing)--we were so low that I never lost phone or Internet service .
I hurried up getting to the track only to find out that my car hasn't arrived yet-traffic was bad around D.C. last night and put everything behind . At the track its a sunny day with the temps in the low sixties -test n tune was supposed to start but nothings going down the track yet today -- not sure why but it is the deep South you know . At least they are doing tech ............Got to bum around awhile and visit folks -- great day for that............later . |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
OK, Jack. What does "but it is the deep South you know" supposed to mean? Don't make me have to come up there and show you what "southern hospitality" really means when it comes to you "yankees"! Have you ever seen the sign at the Florida/Georgia state line that says "Welcome to Florida! Now go home!" Jim
BTW Thanks for keeping us updated on what is going on there. Jim |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Jim -- My comments were not about your "Southern Hospitality" but more about our "Yankee" get it done now thoughts -- we're in much more of a hurry than folks in "Deep South" are ........Jim, I can see the hair on the back of your neck standing up from here --- ya gotta know that I'm not looking to revive the war ! ! ! !
BTW --You're welcome . |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Jack, you have to know I'm just pullin your chain! Besides, I love Yankees! They taste like chicken! Welcome to Georgia! Now go home! Jim
Wish I was there with ya'll. |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Good morning boys and girls - if your headed here take your time as its pouring bigtime and probably won't let up for several hours at least . Good news is there is still plenty of pit space available so come on out and support your Division for their last Lucas Oil race of the season . Later..............
PS--Tech opened at 8am so go see Harry and the boys early . |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
I looked at the weather for Reynolds and it says showers till 6:00pm then sprinkles till midnight so I am not coming till tomarrow I had work that needs to be done any ways and Im only 90 miles away. Trevor B/S
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
is there any word from anyone there at the track about the current weather conditions???
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
I can tell ya Jeremy, Its raining. Bring your boat if your gonna race today. Are you coming up?
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
We are thinking about it.. we are still working some kinks out of our plans.. we might end up up there tomorrow but I dont know...
Do you think that you will end up with any runs today? |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Jeremy I dont see a snow balls chance in H--- in any one going down the track today. Im about 70 miles south west of Reynolds as the crow flies and its been pouring here and still is so I would say its doing the same there. Its suppost to be sunny Sat & Sun. Maybe Jack can let us know exactly what it is like there.
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Oh, its still raining, just not as heavy as earlier. May let up a little later, we'll see. Painter and I are just hanging round, waiting on Doug Frazier. We might go find something to get into shortly. I cant sit still, on days like this.
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Conditions at lunch time -- still raining but lighter --not much going on yet- doubtful if they will get much in today....water is draining -- not much need for a ark yet...........later.
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Kenny, be careful if your hanging out with Painter and Doug! I'm sure the three of you are capable of getting into something! It's really nice having WiFi at the track isn't it? All tracks should have it! Ask Painter about Leonardo's Pizza. Jim
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Leonardo's, in Gainesville ? Frazier and my son and I ate there again last year. My son was asking about that too. Eye Candy, for sure, being right on campus...
We'll likely hit that one again, in Feb. ..... |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
For now, it's stopped raining. Tractor is making the first pass brooming water off the track. I havent looked to see if they are parking the folks outside yet. Here's hoping we can get some runs in today. There were rigs outside this morning 4 wide over half way back, and that was 2 1/2 hrs ago. Mybe they can get in soon. I'm glad we got here yesterday, to get teched in, early, and out of the way. Not that we have much to do now....
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Rain has subsided this afternoon. They are letting trucks in starting now -- haven't heard a jet running yet(assuming they have one)--maybe we can get a couple of licks in today inspite of all the mess.
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Have they got the jet dryer out?Are they saing anything over P.A
thanks RED |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series

|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Jack-you've been pretty quiet tonight, you at the BBQ the track has? I went to Reynolds last year with my brother ( Derek Clark S/G 12 ) and had a great time. The people were great, the track was killer all weekend and the food was awsome!! Trust me, its warmer down there then it is up here. Have fun, go some rounds and enjoy, racing is alot different down there than up here. I'm going to the Dutch on Sunday to catch some racing before the seasons over, have a great time down south!!

Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Been very busy all day -- check this photo very close -- its Billy Lebers' truck (my ride here) - does anything look out of place? Hint-- notice how close the front bumper is to the grass .... it has been some day ! ! And not one car went down the track .
Tomorrow morning we finally get to start -- Superstreet -then Stock -- S/Gas then S/S and S/C--9am sharp --should be dry by then. At least we're not freezing like at the 'Classic..............'till morning ....later . |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Jack,
That picture of the truck brings back memories. Add some cows and a brand new white suburban. I believe you were driving if I remember correctly. |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Saturday morning and no Sun yet but at least its not raining - temps in the high 50's and will reach the mid 70's by this afternoon -- we should dry out OK in an hour or two .
Superstock 1890 -- Yes , Rich -- that scene looks all too familiar but I swear this time I wasn't driving ! ! It must be the dark cloud that has been following me around lately .Be sure to let Bill in on my good fortune -- I'm sure he'll get a chuckle out of it . Later........... |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
The Sun is finally back ! ! ! Temps in the high 60's -- barometer and vapor pressure in the dumper and the humidity is still high -- This ain't Maple Grove . Stock just got their first shot in -- maybe around a dozen or so that are 1 second under ---- S/S up in a little bit........I'll be back .
Here's the hotsheet now --- Doug Patrick #1 K/SA -- -1.330 Norm Griffis V/SA ---1.285 Dave Lindsay E/S --- -1.199 Butch Payne E/SA ----1.150 Verne Buchanan H/SA -- 1.149 |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series

Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
We're pretty much done for the day as we got our second lick in and most qualified positions stayed the same because it slowed up a few hundreths .Turned out to be a extra nice day here in the Peach state -- couldn't ask for more -- sunshine -nice temps - and a little tailwind .....perfect .
A little while ago I was looking for a snack so I took a walk up to the refreshment area -- what a surprise -- no subs -- no pizza -- not even chili ! ! ! But I did get a pleasant surprise-- the lady at the stand said try these -- I wasn't going to but she "sold" me -- get this -- fried green tomatoes with ranch dressing -- not bad-not bad at all . To all my friends at Maple Grove this weekend my advise is just sit tight -- tomorrow will be nice. |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
hey cheif did you guys get the trucks out?
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
For a minute I thought I was at Maple Grove when Bucky's car appeared but it was only the Teuton compound .Then I ran into Mark Beaver and his extra clean 98 Camaro ..........Later .

Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Hey Jack, welcome to the South. Take it easy on my Southern Pals!:D
|
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
Thanks Woody --I just hope your pals don't beat-up on me too badly tomorrow morning..........
Almost forgot--thanks to the track operator for the nice Bar-B-Q he put on tonight .Also heard a rumor that a certain S/S racer who shall remain un-named imported a stripper for tonights' entertainment in his trailer-- what next ? Go Phillies........... |

Sunny morning here in Reynolds on race day--temps in the high fifties and climbing with the barometer at 29.56 -humidity at 72% and drying off fast-- 478 DA at the moment so its a little faster this morning. They're drying the dew off the track at this time with the jet dryer so we should get going soon .
Took a few photos this morning--ya gotta like the Reynolds people - guess they like people but not trucks. Also check out the 58 Ford S/ST car -- very different than the rest .This morning I joined the parade here as they let you warm-up on the track.....try that in D1 . Later...........Click on the pics to enlarge . |
Re: Live from Reynolds,GA-NHRA LucasOil Series
First round is done and this could be a great race for the D4 boys with Teuton putting Pinkston out --Buchanan outing Schrimscher--Ford beating Dobson -- Doughty going past Reid -- Carey beating Griffis -- Birkett outing Kevin Helms -- and Hall going around Weiss . Other Notables -- Grubbs put Somerton out -Vierheller dumped Gracie (ain't she a cutie)Howell -- Heads-ups-- Johnson over Radley (E/SA) -- Torren over Harris(D/SA)and then there's me who had a light so bad the starter was walking toward me when I left-- ouch ! ! ! ! And to add insult to injury my second round race would have heads-up and seven (7) tenths slower--thats right(.70) -- luck is everything . Later.........got plenty of time now .
