PBIR - Citrus pit report
Arrived at 12:30 pitted in the dirt patch by the racers entrance. Teched in for tomorrow then put the car away. Car count is rather low but it's still early. Present so far in SS: Wendell Howes, Denny Steward, Dave Thomas. Spent most of the afternoon getting in everyone's way & drinking David Lindsay's beer:D Doug Patrick is pitted near me (Doug, I moved from the dirt tonight, hopefully not in your way). As I headed to my truck I spotted Sid Tolson making his way in, then saw Joe Teuton & Kevin Helms rig getting situated. Kevin says Scott & Darin Summerton are on their way. George Case informs me Bucky Hess may be heading down. SS/AH could be very interesting this weekend. Dave Thomas makes 2 passes and is impressed with the surface. Joe Mialki makes 2 passes, spitting a valve on the last run. Denny Steward starts thrashing while Joe goes home to pick up another motor..looks like an all nighter for them.
Sure wished my stocker was ready.. S/SS first run tomorrow not until 1:00 Off to bed..early start tomorrow at 8:00 am (I hate mornings) first time run at 9:00..I don't wake up until 10:00 on Saturdays, will be interesting making a pass only half awake:rolleyes:. |

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Hey Gary
Thanks for the report, now let me tell ya about the ones ya mentioned, Dave Thomas, make sure he has Ice Cream, he does not sell Hamburgers either, wrong guy, Wendell Howes, if ya think he is drinking a glass of Coke Cola, wrong, it's dark rum or wine LOL, Denny Steward has lots of beer with him, he will share it with ya, watch that car, he will go to the top of the pole, Poor Joe, sorry to hear about the valve, but when he comes back ,go and look and make sure it has spark plug holes in the valve covers, check and see it is not a BBC, or he might have another CA car with him,Blue with white striped Camaro, he stole it LOL and he has lots of Beer also, Anyway thanks for the update, if ya can post a Qualifing sheet would be great, will be there next yr. Thanks Brian Oakes |
Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Jimmy, long time no speak!!! Sure wish you & Donnie Beeler could make down some day. Hope to make it back to Bowling Green soon.
Brian, Wendell is keeping Denny honest. And no, Howes isn't drinking from a coke cup, but kept boasting about the best beer north of the border "Moosehead". He didn't bring any and Denny definitely is supplying beer. I'll hit Dave up for some ice cream. The last thing I asked Joe was to bring some pizza back. Too bad it'll be cold by the time I return LOL!!! Anyway a real fun time. |
Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
LOL Gary Wendell must have a big stick to keep Denny Honest lol, Yes Wendell is right, the best beer by far,but i have another name and it's not Moosehead, and yes Joe has the best Pizza in Town and ya to try the wings, give us a update on who went what. Later Brian

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Came home about 2 hrs ago, first round casualty (lifted too early on a better RT....SUCKS!!) rain forecasted for tomorrow & too many chores to stay at the race. Car count is light in both Stk and S/S, 10 cars each. Nitro, I tried calling the track to get the tower but only a recording at the moment. I believe I have Mike Clark's cell & will try to relay your fax number to the tower girls. Picked up the 2nd time run sheets, here's the session rundown :

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Hey Oakes, Joe was afraid you'd feel sorry for him about his motor woes when we were talking at the Div trailer, then Carpenter & Steward showed up... message from Denny - he's hookin' up Mialki... going to show up with a blue & white 69 Camaro that WILL run 1.5 under. Man I'm glad I'm staying away from G-Ville next week. Up to now I thought the stocker guys were brutal. Between Helms, Wahl, and Summerton, it gets pretty thick (don't listen to anything they say about me....none of it's true). Then Mialki informs me Denny is going, possibly Carpenter too, and I don't have boots deep enough to survive these guys:p.
Guess I better shut up and get to work on my damned stocker before everyone shows up at my doorstep:D. |
Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
What me? What did I ever say? Now that "Fat Boy Helms" he's go a mouth on him! I've seen sailors walk away shaking their heads. Summerton! He can be just plain cruel! Me? No way. Jim

LOL Thanks Brian |
Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Hey Wahl, beyond the logistical short commings of the facility, you really missed a good time. Would have been more fun if you & the Wards were there. But that's okay since Dave Lindsay picked on me all weekend (guess I had to pay for my beer somehow :D)

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Jim the race rained out. They ended the race due to heavy rain and bad thunder storms at around 630pm
Drag Race Central has the results. We were down to 3 cars in stock and 3 cars in super stock. Superstock was Jay Slane, Mike Pearson and Joe Teuton. Stock was Doug Patrick and 2 others. The purse will be split between the remaining cars still in competition. On a side note PBIR is a really nice facility since the rebuild of the track. The entire track is concrete and smooth as glass. The traction was good all weekend until the rain started to throw a monkey wrench into the program. The pit area to the east of the track is now fully paved and they have plans to develope more pit area and pave the dirt area along the racer entry road. This place is just as nice as SGMP. Great lighting, stands and pit facilities. I would highly recommend everyone to make the trip there for the next Citrus Nationals. The new owners have made a huge investment into the track. We need to support them. Also there were only 10 stock and 10 S/S cars. They did not cut the purse or try to combine the 2 classes. I think this shows the new owners are trying to make thing right. Thanks to everyone on the PBIR crew for a great race. Thanks to the NHRA Div 2 crew also. |

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
This is truly good news! It's good to see the new owners are investing so much in the facility. It says a lot that even with a low car count they didn't try to combine classes or cut the payout. Kudos to PBIR! Perhaps an SSSSA race is in order? We shall see. Jim

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
Speaking of Dave Lindsay..add him to the list of satisfied customers. He wanted the staff to know he was VERY pleased with the facility, the program, and plans to run regularly once more (and I didn't pay him back for his beer to get him to say that...HONEST).

Re: PBIR - Citrus pit report
I'm also looking forward to next year, however, another 3 entries did not come because I could never get an answer if you could enter Sunday morning. The person answering the phone at the track Friday gave me the track managers cell ph. and I left a message but I still have not gotten a reply.
