Is it possible to renew my membership and not get the in house rag, which now takes me about 3-5 minutes to get through,at a lower fee?If so we all should go that route. You wanna skin me for $5 and I'll

I am not gonna cancel my membership over $5, but hopefully this will bite them in the *** somehow. I am so thankful I only have a few grand into my car and trailer, that way if the stuff hits the fan I'll only have $10k of obsolete junk instead of $100k+ of obsolete junk.

Just go bracket racing! I know that's what we are going to do anyhow.

I just downloaded my forms to re up my license and membership. It appears you now have to pay for a 2 year subscription instead of 1 year at a time. At least I could not find payment amount for 1 year. I would do 2 years anyway, but I should have a choice. That makes less processing for them as well as locking EVERYONE into an extra year.

I was forced to renew for 2 yrs when I renewed my license. It wasn't even 10 months into the first yr and I got a notice on my National Dragster that that issue was my last one. Needless to say getting any help from Pomona was a joke. I never did get my license or membership card. Which was another fiasco.

Needless to say I wil never renew with NHRA again. They are nothing but a joke.

Cuz bracket racing is too much like work. Divisionals are 3 to 4 day vacations for me. Funny as it may sound, I look forward to the travel, staying overnight at the track, taking my time to get ready in the morning, the parties, the adventures away from the track.

:eek:I got this Info second hand that NHRA raised the membership fee for track owners. They eithor raised $1,000.00 or raised it to $1,000.00 & that NHRA is going to eliminate an eliminator catagory. Maybe a track owner can fill us in if this is true. Now how much are they going to raise entry fee's?

Ed, I also renewed in November at the old $64 per year price; after reading your post it wouldn't surprise me if I receive a bill for $5 included with my first 2009 National Dragster!

It's the same with all forms of sports, "money ruins it" Football, Baseball, Basketball, Nascar, NHRA ect. you name it they all beg corporate america to pony up $ then all of the sudden it's way out of control. Then when corporate america falters it all comes down like a house of cards, it's easy to see the sky as the limit when you're using someone else's money.Look at what a pro athlete makes it's ridiculous, then they pass the cost of this "new millionaire" on to the very people the sport was designed to entertain, sound familiar? The old saying "money is the root of all evil" never was more appropriate than now. You can't blame the entire mess on any one entity the teams, owners they all played a role in it, this is like any other form of entertainment when all the glitz and glamour is gone all that will remain is the roots of the sport. Maybe someone should suggest NHRA's Top Management talk with NASCAR's top management or send NHRA the info below from NASCAR. Seems to me that NASCAR is doing all they can to help the fan and keep sponsors. I read recently where NASCAR also met with their sponsors while attending the PRI show and modified their contracts to "REDUCE" the sponsorship dollars. This in an attempt to keep the sponsors involved with NASCAR and the race teams during the tight economic times.

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Darlington Raceway is reducing ticket prices on nearly 9,000 seats for the 2009 Southern 500.

All seats in Rows 3-14 in the Colvin Grandstand will now be $35, a $10 discount off the original price.

"We are celebrating a historic milestone in 2009 with the 60th season of racing at Darlington Raceway and we want to make sure that our fans can be here for this special event," track president Chris Browning said. "We recognize that economic times are tough for everyone right now and want to do our part to help reduce the cost of attending an event at Darlington Raceway."

Since moving to Mother's Day weekend in 2005, Darlington Raceway has sold out four consecutive Cup Series events.

To purchase tickets, contact the track ticket office at 843-395-8802.

I got a buddy that goes to Gainesville every year and does the Top Eliminator Club thing. They raised the price on that, too, and he and a bunch of friends aren't going for the first time in years.

Does anybody have any current membership numbers for the NHRA?
$5.00 more per member translates to quite a bit of money for them I believe.
