A well deserved award. Paul A dedicated tech inspector since the mid-60’s and a member of the North Central Division’s Certification Team Travis Miller was presented the Don “Pinky” Cobbs Memorial Award by Division Tech Director Ritch Bowers during the Tech and Safety Seminar at the annual Division 3 Track Operator meetings at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites, Saturday morning, January 10. The award presented in special recognition to an outstanding NHRA Tech Inspector within http://www.nhra.com/2009/images/div3/P1090042.JPGthe North Central Division is named in honor of Don “Pinky” Cobbs one of the original Division 3 Tech Inspectors who passed away near the end of the 2005 season. Miller started work at NHRA national events in 1973 and became a member of the Division 3 Certification Team in 1985 after a brief racing career in the stock and modified ranks. Past recipients include Ron Mack from Route 66 Raceway in 2006 and Bill Protz from Coles County Dragway in 2007. |

Few tech people are as deserving, or more deserving of such an award than Travis Miller. Congratulations indeed. :cool:

Lots of knowledge there. He told me once any stocker cam that checks ok is a good cam. Never forgot that. Thanks for all the help and congrats Travis.

Thank you to everyone. It is a great honor to win this award.
2009 is my 41st year teching dragracing. Been a Stock/SS techman since I started in1969 at an outlaw track. Hired on at Ohio Valley Raceway in 1970. Worked my first NHRA National event in 1973 at Englishtown. Even teched some truck and tractor pulls in the late 70's thru the early 80's with Army Armstrong. While I learned a lot on my own, I must give credit to four of my greatest mentors. Unfortunately they are no longer with us. They are Farmer Dismuke, Marty Barrett, Dave Danish, and Don "Pinky" Cobbs. I sure miss those guys. They taught me well. Again thanks to everyone for the kind words, Travis |

Great job Travis, and truly you deserve this award. You always treated me fairly in tech, and always had a smile on your face. Looking at the post on the forum...you have a lot of racers who respect you and the job you've done.
