Besides the ten that Brent Hajek supposedly has and the 13 that were delivered through Varsity Ford I would be curious were the rest are also.
You can see the 13 delivered at Varsity Ford at you tube. Search Varsity Ford

I've accounted for about 40 of them, Jackie Jones Ford bought 15 cars and I have no idea if other obvious potential buyers like Velde Ford have any. I'm pretty sure the production number isn't a question.

Chris, the best of luck to you and Robert with the new car. I am very familiar with the succes that you and Robert have had in AA/S, A/S, and B/S. As a Ford fan since 1964, this is an exciting time for me. If you guys ever decide to attend a National event in D1, 2, or 3, I will probably be there; I attend Gainesville, Atlanta, Englishtown, Norwalk, Reading, Indy, and Charlotte every year. Once again, much success with the new car!

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

There are only 50 being built. According to Ford they only confirmed approx. 15-18 cars will actually be raced. Most of them are going to collectors or museums. Out of the 50 that were built only 17 or 18 of them have the Snake on the side. There is a possiblity of them building more for 2010 bodys.

if they had the balls to show the scoreboard I would agree with you. I don't think they quit filming every run just before the run was over. they made 15 passes, but the video shows at most 4 ( one seems to be shown twice with the black car in the other lane). Hell if I had a mid 9 sec stocker, I'd want everyone to think it ran low 10's too, especially if i wanted to play the AHFS game. I'm not saying they are lying, just that they could be

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

Seems to me there's a BIG difference between "production run" and bill of sale. What the sanctioning bodies need to do is require 50 Bills of sale from dealers to individuals in the general public before even concidering it a "stocker" in the rule book.

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

Absolutely no question that 50 production units were built and sold. There are also 4 pre-production / prototype units for a total of 54. Ford Racing will be pubishing a registry that will document all of the dealers and original owners.

Chris,,,,good luck to you and Robert sorting out the new ride.I'm hoping you two can make it back up to the Mission B.C. points meet in May. I'm guessing the Waldos will be there with their new CJ too. It should be an interesting weekend. I always look forward to that event. Take care,,,,,Danny Durham

No-names,
Not much info will come from Pomona. The real players will be out in several months.

I can't remember the exact ET but John Calvert ran one with a MPH of 138 this past weekend at Fontana. It was 10.??

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

Our car is running late with the shipping company so I don't know if we will get it for Pomona. Calvert, Waldo,Stinnet and Ronzello are all driving cars owned by Brent Hajek. These cars are going to take some getting used to. There is a learning curve just like everything else.

If, and when, they get these cars to hook; a speed of 138 would conservatively indicate 9.60s and optimistically 9.50s. All reports have mentioned that the cars are still having traction problems; at Pomona we probably will not get a true indication of their potential.

Was that with, or without your air horn in the air filter?

It could have been. I was having a conversation with the announcer and looked up and saw a white Mustang and what I thought was John driving it. My confusion....sorry.

138 MPH is a common run and there has been plenty of testing on these CJ 'Stangs here in Arizona. 131 MPH is indicitive of a lifted run.
And as I've said before, 138 MPH is on the street fuel tune and high water temps. Somebody will let their ego go out of check and run 142+ by the end of the year and traction will not be an issue either. I expect a 9.38 @ 142. Now I expect there is some mandate on FORD not to do this so it may be in testing only.
That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it!

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

Jeff,
Your prediction is probably very close. Steve at Ford Racing Parts (SVT) says the motor makes 750 Horsepower. 3,350 @ 750 HP = 9.41 @ 143 mph.

bill dedman 02-05-2009 02:18 PM

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

Bruce,

Is this the 5.4-liter motor? If it is, that's nearly 2.3 hp per cubic inch...

Wonder about the engine life of a motor making this much power per cube, hot-lapping in the final rounds.

Might that be a factor? Is that a Gilmer belt driving the blower, or just a multi-ribbed serpentine unit? To make that kind of power, I'd think the supercharger must be working pretty hard (high boost levels,) That's hard on belts....
Just a thought.

Bill

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

For 750hp they don't seem to be running all that well so far.

You don't give Ford guys much credit, Bruce. We love to rile Chevy and Mopar guys by telling them things like 750hp dyno numbers. If you read history you'll see they told NASCAR they were coming out with a 600 HP overhead cam Galaxie, the Mopar guys had no internet forums to moan about it online back then. Too bad, it would have saved Ford from having to build a few prototypes.

Re: Where are the other 46 ?? 2008

Bill,
The fellow at FRP (SVT) said they had put twin turbos on this motor and that the bottom end had no problems holding up under the 1,100 Horsepower they produced. His words. Not mine.

Actually those engines take a lot more than that. John Mihovetz runs a Cougar mostly in the PSCA series but also in Comp AA/AT or BB/AT. Also Steve Matusek Jr. runs one in a Mustang Comp/Pro Mod. That's the same basic engine... going 6.20's! There are LS1's making that sort of power too. I always thought "newfangled junk" too.

An LS1 would need a replacement rotating assembly to handle that kind of HP and survive. I believe that the SC Mustang motors have forged cranks, rods, and pistons.
