BOGUS COMBINATIONS & NO CLASS RACERS RUIN CLASS RACING

HEY!!!!!!!!!! DO I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION ?
HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO 2. SECONDS UNDER IN SUPER STOCK?
THE MOST BOGUS COMBO THERE IS...............
WANT TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK YOU'RE SMART WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR *** FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND?
IF YOU ANSWERED YES THEN PUT A 1985 350 OLDSMOBILE F.I. ENGINE THAT CAME IN A CADDILAC SEVILLE IN A SS/GT CAR.
THIS COMBO IS RATED @ SOMETHING LIKE130 HP , WHEN IT SHOULD BE RATED @ 300+ HP. GUESS IT SLIPPED BY NHRA. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING, WOULD SOMEONE TRY TO RUN THAT AND GET AWAY WITH IT, YOU WOULD HAVE TO RUN THE CAR 800 LBS. HEAVY!!! BOB DENNIS KNEW ABOUT THIS COMBO YEARS AGO BUT PEOPLE LIKE HIM HAVE RESPECT FOR CLASS RACING AND WOULD NOT RUN SUCH A BOGUS COMBO AND SANDBAG ALMOST 1 SECOND TO KEEP FROM GETTING HP. ENTER KEVIN MURPHY A.K.A. ROCKETWORKS . KEVIN MURPHY TOOK A OLDS CUTLASS WITH A 350 OLDS THAT RAN .7 UNDER IN GT/JA DRILLED HOLES IN HIS MANIFOLD FOR INJECTORS AND SWITCHED THE LETTERS ON HIS WINDOWS TO AN M AND WAS #1 QUALIFIER AT THE BOWLING GREEN OPEN . 1.18 UNDER AND 800 LBS HEAVY. HOW MANY LOW QUALIFIER SPOTS WILL THIS BOTTLE ROCKET SCIENTIST STEAL BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD BUILD ONE OF THESE AND DEBUT THEM ALL AT THE U.S. NATIONALS AND SEE WHO CAN GO 3 SECONDS UNDER!!!!!! HEY WHAT % DO YOU GET FROM THE AHFS WHEN YOU GO 3 SECONDS UNDER? IT IS TIME TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH. DON'T LET PEOPLE LIKE KEVIN MURPHY AND DENNIS DUNLAP RUIN CLASS RACING. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT BOGUS COMBINATIONS!!!!!

beartarrance 05-30-2007 11:45 PM

looks like rocketworks did some homework and it paid off .

Class guy 05-31-2007 12:12 AM

I would not go so far as to call it a bogus combo.
Give Murphy some credit for taking his lead from Bob Shaw and applying the combo to Super Stock.
Now if you want to talk about bogus which you seem to do, then you already mentioned the king of Bogus
Bogus Bob Dennis himself.
I guess you forgot about how that cheating SOB ran amuck in U/SA with a Olds combo that never existed.

RocketBlock 05-31-2007 12:19 AM

Gentlemen,
I bet that engine has been in the books since 1985!
At least some of us know how to read the class and engine guides.
Some of you just wont let go of that combonation you have been trying to master for the last twenty years.

Jack McCarthy 05-31-2007 12:29 AM

dennis and murph... why would you even waste the keyboard wear and tear to reply to some asshole who :

is a chicken **** who wont even use his own name
whos CAPS button is stuck, like his head up his ***
has an obvious problem with someone who does his homework
probably doesnt even race, much less qualify in the top 1/2

carry on my farmer friends, you have more class than most on this forum

captain jack

and oh yeah, bob dennis has been known to play that ol automatic help for slugs game with the best of em, saving his soft combos' for years... just smart racers...

Jim Wahl 05-31-2007 12:43 AM

Amen Capt. Jack! I don't know how Bob does it but I could certainly take a lesson or to fom him! Go for the wierd combos guys! I have been doing it for over 20 years, it's fun! Jim

By the writing style and all caps it looks like JASON FULLER is at it again.
The whole sport is going to be destroyed by one car ????
I don't hink so, the TECH GUYS are more savy than that....
where's JOE TECH whrn we need him ?? Or the Pingwyn ???

Tand E racing 05-31-2007 02:29 AM

If they built it it can't be bogus? L.O.L Hey give the guy credit he built and before you know it it won't be killer anymore N.H.R.A or H.D. partners or whoever runs the show will catch up to him.

Jim Kaekel 05-31-2007 08:47 AM

Atta boy to Dunlap and Murphy! They found a good combination and built it. I remember working on one of those Caddys with the fuel injected 350 Olds when my dad and I had our shop. That Caddy ran like a raped ape. It was a definite sleeper.

Sounds like an X-number 1 Q.....Stop bitching and get to work on your own combo,if you have one...Maybe your just a internet DICK......Keep up the great work Bob Dennis and the Murphy/Dunlap boys, thats what makes Stock and S/S racing so great--- creativety....It would real suck if we all had to run Chevies, same cars going down the track all the time !!!! LOL ,with your new
combo's..........Use your real name and maybe someone will give a
DAMM.............. Dave...1033/stock (RV-455)

SSDiv6 05-31-2007 12:05 PM

Mr. Obrien...Not so fast, the Olds 260-4bbl combination was in the books for many years, at least 12 years. Maybe if someone else than Bob Dennis had run it, nobody would have complained.

Fred Connell 05-31-2007 12:27 PM

Hey Sarg Snafo,
You must not get out to much. Bob Dennis is already running this combination and has been since this spring. He went 1.39 under and more than likely wasn't even trying. Kevin has been working on this car all winter , and this was the first time out for that car. I think it was great to see That DUNLAP & MURPHY team score a # 1 spot in Stock & Super Stock. Way to go !!! Murphinator & Travis.

stockracer 05-31-2007 12:57 PM

GT/MA ought to be great at the nationals...Dennis and Murphy with the 350 FI, Sharps 425 (280, yeah...thats not soft), and Roddels 265 (baby Lt-1). These will be the top 4 qualifers...Might be as interesting as the SS/GS class, what are there, 4 cars now in this class?

Jack McCarthy 05-31-2007 02:59 PM

ed...
obviously you confused me for a friend of bob dennis,
i only commented on how well he uses the afhs to protect his combo's.

billy nees and myself took effort to remove the 260 4bbl from competiton

captain jack

and that turbo of yours USED to be a little soft too eh ??? http://www.classracer.com/html/happy.gif

John Warehime 05-31-2007 07:07 PM

You said it, Mr. Ribiero. There is no substitute for R&D! Gotta get that calculator working. Hows that Pontiac runnin'? Headin' to Island?

Joe Schweigert 06-01-2007 01:01 AM

Actually the 260 4bbl did indeed exist in 1981 in a
Pontiac G/Prix used mostly in fleets and only in
California and there were quite a few of those dogs
out there. I wasnt around when Bob Dennis ran his
did he run it as an Olds or Pontiac ?

Joe Schweigert 06-01-2007 01:03 AM

Dave whats wrong with running a chevy ?

Dave Ribeiro 06-01-2007 08:21 AM

Joe,

Nothing wrong with Chevy, but it would be very Boooooring.......Stock and S/S have so many options and the racers thank god use them.... Remember everyone could build one of those olds or chaddys and be a number 1 Q.. So stop crying and get working, there's nothing stopping you from that number one spot except hard work...
Joe, like I 've said before some of these guys need to get a life..
Hope you and the family are doing well, say hello to everyone...
Dave...1033/stock(RV-455)

chuck wagon 06-01-2007 02:56 PM

Harrison who do you think you are kidding? with that Name you think david layer combo is bogus to. Dave just works hard period!!!!! New record SSKA 10.12
Get off kevins back
o wait a second only 283 chevy are the only real combos

More power to kevin if you don't like it build one.

Chuck D
All class all the time.

Jim Harrison 06-01-2007 08:25 PM

Charlie, what the hell is your problem? The only time I look at this garbage is when somebody (you) tries to attack Harrison Racing. So you can add another apology to the one you still owe us. You know in 2004 & 2005 you acted like we were friends and then last year you stuck your nose up when I saw you. What kind of bull**** is that? Then we work our *** off on the worlds fastsest 283 powerglide Nova to set the record and you tell every body we switched carbs. at the end of the track. By the way the rule has been changed for 2007 about setting a record , you can now use the first run for the backup. Which is the only reason we didn't get it at Indy in Oct. 06. We confronted you about telling people we switched carbs told you could go look at it right then ,but you wouldn't. You said sorry then like a coward got on the internet and started allover. Now we have been to Memphis and set the record. What part of that don't you understand? This carb. bull**** better stop. Wesley is probably the toughest Tech man and he said we were legal. If that isn't good enough then protest us . Bob and I work our asses off to make a combination (that a lot of people have run ) faster than anybody ever has. Is that the problem? Are you jealous? Sorry! I have been groomed for this position my whole life, I've learned from every thing that worked and didn't work on our cars to make them what they are. So figure this one out KUCF FOF Charlie! I never said anything about you, Layer ,O'Malley or anyone else. You talk to us in person if you have a problem. And I am not Sarg Snafo so I guess somebody else has a problem with Kevin Murphy. As far as I know there never was a fued in SS/KA .People like you thrive on drama so go watch a soap opera and leave us alone. If anybody has a problem they can call me Cell # 812-459-6560

johnny shot 06-01-2007 09:46 PM

I don't have a dog in this fight but I think finding and building legal, unusual or underfactored combinations is what makes Super Stock and Stock great. It shows that doing your homework and working within published guidelines has it's rewards. Even if the reward is only a one line notation for a record in ND, or an occasional first round single. To the guys that keep finding the oddball/overlooked/unusual combos, I say keep up the good work, and thanks for the entertainment.

66 Chevy II 06-03-2007 12:28 PM

Mr Harrison maybe you need to give Mr Meyer a little credit, his chevy II has been faster than yours for a long time. He has had the ss/la record as fast as 10.46. He has had his record for at least the last 4 years, he also knows when to turn it lose and how much as not to put hp on his combo ,he is not on some ego trip. Maybe he needs to take the weight and run ka somtime just to see how fast it realy is. Unless you are doing his stuff your claim to having the fastest chevy II is his. Have a nice day.

Jim Harrison 06-05-2007 04:30 PM

66 chevy II , since you know so much about Tom , then you know that all his records were set at Altitude adjusted tracks. The alt. only being 1700 ft. @ Nebraska, and 1900 ft. at Great Bend. That means his current record of 10.58 was really a 10.81 factored to 10.58. I don't have a problem with Tom , he seemed like a nice guy the times I have talked to him at the races so don't try to stir this into something it is not. Now then Bob Harrison SS/KA 10.30 @ Memphis Corrected ALT. 2500 FT.
My brother Runs his 66 Nova in SS/LA Which has been 10.58 at a unfactored track with corrected ALT. of 1500 FT. So there won't be any need for Tom to switch classes unless he wants to get outrun by a different Harrison Nova . NO offense Tom just trying to stand up for ourselves because nobody else is going to.

Rick Ryan 06-05-2007 06:29 PM

Well Jim,

I do know Tom very well and not all of his records were set at factored tracks. Besides that Scribner 1700'. On a good day the corrected altitude there is maybe 3000'. I've raced there a lot and even when it had an altitude factor. I never ran anywhere close to as far under the index there as I have in Houston. On what the Texas natives called an average day.
If you look he went a 10.65 a couple weeks ago at Brainerd which also was not great air either. He is plenty capable of running in the .50's. I've watched that car go in the .60's at Marion SD which isn't exactly the greatest track in the world either.
Now I don't know you but your last couple sentences don't make you sound the best saying you have nothing against Tom but he couldn't run with either car. That's a bold statement.
I would love to see that race I think it would be very good.

Rick Ryan

66 Chevy II 06-05-2007 09:38 PM

IN 2003 Meyers Chevy II went 10.49 no corection down south at almost 126 and I have been told its faster now, just as your cars are faster than in 2003.

5919 SSKA 06-06-2007 10:24 AM

Calling ALL SS/KA, SS/LA cars to BIR for the Lucas Oil Nationals....let's get along, or get it on!!!

I might not be able to run as fast as you guys, but I'd love to participate in a large CLASS race just for the fun of it.

See ya in Staging!

roadrunnerrunner 06-06-2007 11:25 PM

Never mind a Hemi Shootout ,I'm up for a 66-67 Chevy Nova shootout......Hey how about this: .......A definite way to show NHRA we CAN Indeed be the show I can see it now ,great promotion,The stands are full ..25or6 or more Deuces, inaddition to the 22 or so hemis and 11 u/sa shootout cars and you KNOW the Camaros won't stay away. A/S,B/S,C/S etc.......1st round losers get $100.00 bucks ...My nova money is on Bob ..

Jack McCarthy 06-07-2007 11:13 AM

When the great SS/KA teardown goes on ...

i wanna bet jimmy harrison has the "BEST DAMN VALVE SPRING COMPRESSOR" in the barn !!!!!!!!!!!!

captain jack...

p.s. i'm betting he wont lend it to charley bob !!

chuck wagon 06-07-2007 11:57 AM

Murphy's valve spring compressor is more RACER friendly. And I know he will let me use it( when the time comes). Well only if I don't leave beer cans on the back of the trans mobile.
