Let's Start The Count

Let's start a count on who is not going to Indy. I don't know how to start one of those poll charts so whoever can let's get one going.

Re: Let's Start The Count

There was a boycott last year in IHRA Pro Stock.SOMEBODY will always show up.They will drive down the track on a "bye" run in the final round and WIN.
I don't know what the answer is,but boycott is not one of them.
Maybe EVERYBODY should just go to INDY and create so much traffic that fans can't get to the track because there are so many rigs blocking traffic that nobody can get to the main gate?

Re: Let's Start The Count

I don't expect everyone to not enter Indy. But a list of racers, by the number, who would normally go say they are not going to enter this year. All classes not just stock/super stock. This year it will be $390 to enter for car&driver. Times how many are not going will show the $ loss to NHRA for our little protest. Down a 100 entries=$39,000. How about down 300=$117,000. Now are they going to generate that much more money buy raising ChassiCert ect. And remember this is just one race. We are only looking @ car and driver not crew, concessions, tee shirts, ect.

Tim, I started a poll in the competition section. Only people that currently race can vote. When you vote, your name will be seen. No hiding, everyone will know how you feel. Here is the link.

Re: Let's Start The Count

Ya'll are crazy. Do you really think NHRA cares if "JOE SPORTSMAN RACER" stays home?
All ya'll could stay home and the show would go on. If you cost them a 100 grand it would'nt matter. Off the subject. My best friend was talking about going to Afganistan to work on diesel trucks for 11 months. He would get $150,000 tax free. He would leave his $60,000 a year job behind as well as his wife kid and NO RACING ( He has 2 bracket cars) And I would loose my crew chief. I told him you don't realize how little a hundred grand is in todays figures. 30 years ago it would be life changing. Today you could'nt payoff your mortgage.
Back to the subject at hand. 100 grand -200 grand-300 grand means nothing to NHRA.
Now you let John Force stay home one weekend and see what happens.

Chip, If that's true ,then why are they raising all their fees, across the board?
They say they're losing money on us as it is. There must be some reason why they keep us around.

THE LEGEND, Let your friend know that according to the U.S. tax laws all citizens are subject to tax on all income they receive, regardless of the source (different country etc.). He wouldn't want to be caught on tax evasion lol. But about this subject... I'm not a class racer but do agree protesting Indy and even a few more NHRA races they make a lot of money at would open their eyes but we do not know how much. I wish we knew how much NHRA makes a year or per national event so we could really see the possible effect.

It's the same reason a dog licks his whacker, BECAUSE HE CAN. They will continue to milk the racer for all they can while they can.

I could pay off my mortgage, my truck, my wife's car... every penny of all of our other debts, and could go racing comfortably for 5 years on the leftovers. On top of that, with no debts, it'd be like having an "extra" $1,500-$2,000/month. Maybe I'm in the minority, but that's a life-changing figure for me.

Back on topic: I went to my first Indy last year. I'm not going this year -- to Indy , or *any* NHRA races. I didn't need a reminder as to why I let my membership go the first time. I *do* have options on where to race, and I'll vote with my feet.

Beard,
1) You could'nt leave racing for a year.
2) You can't work on anything so this would'nt matter to you. LOL

I keep thinking I want an NHRA # I've got 4 nationals within 300 miles of here. The problem is the divisionals I have to go to to get to run the nationals. IHRA has enough races to keep me busy.
I would love to go to INDY once just because, but probably not twice.

Re: Let's Start The Count

Rick you are right it's $290 not $390. Bad math on my part. But still could be an eye opener for NHRA to look for revenue elsewhere other than the sportsman.

I come up with $270

Re: Let's Start The Count

They only allow the fastest to qualify, not like it used to be with class winners and then the fastest. Winning "Class" has lost some of its luster. I cannot run .80 under so I will not attend, and no, I am not going to work harder on my stuff to keep up with all the bogus factored "fastest" qualifiers. Besides that how many of you real fast guys out there have the likes of Bob Shaw, Bob Dennis, Lloyd McKay, and Mike Senia run in your class during the the past 20 years. All these guys ever did was be so far under it would make you cringe knowing that you could go .000 on the tree and still not have a chance if they went .500

Oh, and I forgot, with what it cost, the amount of days in relation to time runs, the fun factor eliminated, it just does not seem logical anymore. I believe that Indy should be reduced to a divisional and Belle Rose should be where the real BIG GO should be.

Dave we just got handed a $20 increase. Indy was always $20 more than other national events so I'm figuring $290 now.

[16] IHRA / NHRA nationals and points meets within 6 hours from my house.. I guess you can say "FOR THIS YEAR" I was lucky to have that many races. Renewed my stock number today.. Guess I got lucky Superstock number does not renew until next year so I got stock number renewal CHEAP.. National Dragster renewed up 10 bucks for 2 years. Hell let's have fun RACING or "JUST STAY HOME AND BITCH"..

Why do most people BITCH about 20 dollars here and there.. You are going to spend it anyway.

Maybe because they're tired of getting **** on.233 years ago people were tired of it and did something about it.Read your history and you'll see that not everyone was ready to do something.Luckily enough were so today we're not speaking the kings english.
