Doug Frazier's New Challenger

Here's a couple of pics I shot of Doug racing Footbrake class in his new Challerger at his home track, Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip Saturday night. He made it to the quarter-finals.

Wayne,
Thanks for posting these pics! I am having a lot of fun with this car wish some wheel company made wheels for it but maybe i will find some soon.

ED,
Thank you, I am on a learning curve with this car. So far 10.35 @ 70.00mph 1/8 mile not to bad for a little motor in a really heavy car. I know what it wants at the starting line but trying to predict what it will run is a challenge usually it will repeat but it will throw u a curve and be a tenth slow or fast so im taking notes and trying to learn but 3 races so far and got down to 8 cars 2nd race and 4 cars in the 3rd race so I am pretty happy so far, maybe You or Billy have some advice on how to predict this car? Hope to see You soon!
Doug

Just hold ten. A friend of mine tried to race a v-6 Mustang and it did the same thing. He finally gave up and went back to his old 302 maverick.

One thing that might? help Is to disconnect the battery before a run. It works with some of the turbododges it gets the computer into a learning mode. So it doesn't try so slow itself down.

Disconnect the battery and hold your foot on the brake pedal for about a minute to discharge the capacitor in the cpu. You want to kill the KAM (keep alive memory) it will relean everything on the way home. You'll need to do it every run though.

Just my guess John, but it looks like the six banger, auto of course 4 speed or 3 speed?, 3.07 or so rear gear, with the upgraded 18 inch rims, I would wager 3850 without driver.

My favorite color......except for Tor Red.....which I have on order....classic r/t stick.....not to be confused with one of the "smurf" colored B-5's.

Doug enjoy your new toy, especially its lifetime powertrain warranty!

Eric

John,
It is a 3.5 V-6 auto 3.64 rear gear have not been to the scales yet but I think Eric is real close on his guess from what I have read so with me on board it is 4100 plus. I am told by the parts mgr at the dealership mopar has a 3.94 gear available. Also car has the 17 inch wheels & tires.

Re: Doug Frazier's New Challenger

WOW! Kind of a BARGE at 4100#! With a 6/banger I guess thats not to shabby after all, and being new,and stock! Differant story,,,,,, Thanks alot........Later, John

Doug I just called and they said there RT series wheels will fit in the rear, and you can use 15inch rims! Which is a godsend to anyone trying to fit "real" tires ie drag radials, or even street legal drag tires over those 12.6 inch brake rotors!

I spoke to Kyle Fickler today, What a nice guy and very helpful if anybody needs wheels I would encourge you to give Kyle a call at weld wheels. 1 800 788 9353

Eric,
Kyle seems to think the 15x4 will work on the front also He is doing some checking to be sure I think you will start to see some of these cars racing and the Hemi cars will need a drag radial.

Chris Art and Larry
I am going to try the battery cable trick this weekend thank you

Bruce,
Thanks!!!!! I cant go to easy around here these boys play for keeps but I will keep trying

Re: Doug Frazier's New Challenger

Doug, if that battery cable doesnt work, next time out, shut it off once when you get there, and do not shut it off again. My green truck would run within .03 to .04 all day or nite. Someone told me that one. That truck wouldnt run hot, if you parked it against a wall. It seemed to work fairly well, It made for a better nite after the damn race car didnt want to show out....

Any idea what class thls car fits in IHRA pure stock?

X-TECH MAN 04-20-2009 09:36 AM

Re: Doug Frazier's New Challenger

Im afraid unless IHRA recieved engine specs and its in the class guide (NHRA's) it dosent fit anyplace.

Re: Doug Frazier's New Challenger

Be sure that Kyle knows that the bolt circle for the wheels is a metric dimension and not the Mopar 4.5 inch.
