Richardson SS/AS Camaro
I was kinda surprised to see a Camaro run that fast in SS/AS. Who's car is this? Is it the old Mudd car?

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Nope old Gardnier car from D-1

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Thanks for the info.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Gary Wisecarver changed alot on the car and they have been testing some at Piedmont. That car works very well.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Hi, any idea what combo he is running such as cubic inch and transmission? I'm building a SS/AS car and am just curious what others are using.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Motor is 394, not sure on Tranny.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Thanks. Wonder what heads he is using?

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Double check the rules but I think you can run just about any head GM makes including splayed valve heads. I know you can run canted valve stuff.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
What I think is great is that a "69 Camaro" is waking up this other wise dead class!! Look out little Seabring a big fat red CAMARO is lurking in the back round.... lol

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Tracy its 8.50 per cid. Min is 3180 no mater how small you are with an auto. I know this class very well, more than most. The biggest reasons are purpose built motors and old b/a motors. That car is fast I love it now there is some competion in ss/as.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
I have it on good authority that someone is building a FORD of all things for this class. Should be out mid summer and may actually run pretty good. Hmmmmm.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
I understand the 8.50 per ci rule, just wish you could go below minimum. At that minimum the smallest engine you can build is 394. I considered running it but had to give up too much weight for my little 362 and wouldn't come close to being competitive. Just my opinion because based on my combination...a little biased I guess.

Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
Not the Wisecarver that ran hot rod but his brother gary. Gary ran some SS back then. Tracy remember on Sunday SS is a Shoe Polish race, Anthony just won Atlanta going 9.50 in SS/AS
|
Re: Richardson SS/AS Camaro
The biggest engine I ever ran in AS is 380". And it was a beater engine with 4 sleeves, a big crank and steel rods. And a powerglide. But I went 8.92 in TX with it in 05. However the extra weight turns out was hard on them pinion gears :P I went 9.08 with my 352" in AS last year at Milan too.
Anthony told me last year he was building a Cobalt for AS. Not sure where it is, if something changed, or he was just bs'in me... whatta you think? |

Never the less, it is great to see the car out again. This car has a very interesting history. It has been running Super Stock for a very long time. Congrats to Jon on the performance of the car!!! |
