Just curious, but what is the fastest ACTUAL pass by a stock car, automatic and stick?

Mike I would have answered it the same way. Last time I checked there was no index for MPH but I guess rules do change......

MPH is the standard by which HP can be measured more accuately; E.T. is subject to the hook factor to a much larger extent than mph.

If you want to compare the HP output of two car's engines, forget the e.t.... it's not a reliable indicator.

MPH is, within the aero variables.

Was it last week or the week before someone ran 138 or almost 139 @ Atco. Mite have been the Hemi.

Until they hook up better MPH is not important. I just see a lot of speculation and no actual damage to the whiners.

It's only important as an accurate indicator of how much HP they are putting to the ground.

If they don't hook, they'll never win anything...

Indy cylinder head new Challenger testing at ORP today.
About 1 hour ago 10.10 at 131 MPH. Not sure of class or if lifting.

Ponds' record factored back to altitude says he put 135.25 on the score board. I have never seen anything higher than that. I find it amazing we see over 1200 views and no one can give an answer though?

The Challenger was at Mopars at The Strip in Vegas in March and at
that time was running AA/SA or A/SA, sorry I've slept since then.

Robert Pond went 9.72@ 137.60 at Pomona Winternationals 2009, and Ryan Maclanhan in his Firebird went 138.10

Here's an answer for you:

I was at the Ennis NHRA Points Race about three weeks ago, and at least ONE, but maybe BOTH of the 2008 CJ Mustangs broke 140mph in qualifying. It was on the qualifying printout from the tower that the DRAW booth sells to racers.

It looks like you need to reread the question Bill. Thanks to Chris Whitney for an accurate answer. Since I don't get Natl dragster anymore its tough to keep on on what people are running for speeds

never seen MPH posted on qualifying sheets before, only the top speed MPH for the round.

That is where it was posted on the top of the qualifying sheet as the top MPH. Also, many saw the 140+ on the scoreboards.

Jimmy and Chad Holzman debuted their new Cobra Jets at the Ennis points meet a couple of weeks ago. On the DRC website it showed Jimmy Holzman running 140.17; to the best of my knowledge, that was the first Stocker run over 140. Hope this info helps.

This still dose not answer the question at the start of this thread, best MPH by non CJ. Someone that has the Atco sheet check who had the best MPH at that race. Dempsy Pendavis went fast at pinks race but who knows what his real weight was.
