#1 qualifier, #1515 GT/AA Jeff Lawrence, Qougue NY, '88 Mustang 9.153 off a 10.40 index -1.247 under. This Ford must be a pretty stout piece! Anyone know what engine combination he is using? Thanks in advance, Don Jackson

Re: Another Ford in GT/AA
Those Clevelands are killer engines. The head flow and the small cubic inches makes it a super combo. We watch our Ford buddy win every night against the SBC's at Indy 5/8 Oval for years. Jr Blair. Steve Blair his son drives now. He used to match race a 427 SOHC 57 T-Bird against Bob Glidden in the old days. They win in the Truck Series the last few years.
Indy United Racing League Stock Cars Fast Qualifier: Steve Blair; 15.880 Heat Race Winner: Steve Blair Feature Top 5 1) Steve Blair 2) Steve Blankenship 3) Bob Dumke 4) Ken Fodrie 5) Morris Coffman http://www.oreillyracewaypark.com/ap...1653&zoneid=94 |
Re: Another Ford in GT/AA

Re: Another Ford in GT/AA
For a cylinder head that has the volume of a Cleveland, with a large valve size, and 11.0 to one compression, 324HP makes it a pretty favorable combo. I dont know many heads that will flow what a Cleveland head will. They are about the best out there.

Re: Another Ford in GT/AA
Actually the Cleveland heads are not that big, a lot of cc but they are only 2.80 Inches of cross sectional are at the short turn.

Re: Another Ford in GT/AA
2.8??? That is good for about 470 inches to 6500 RPM with zero limitations on HP. Gesso Pete, we are more like 2.2 with a 14 degree valve angle and a hundred more cubic inches to do the same thing. Want to know the equation for CSA required to prevent limiting HP?
CSA required* = bore * bore * stroke * RPM/0.00353*(614fps) *minimum cross sectional area throughout the length of the intake port. For those too lazy to do the math, there are calculators where you can just plug in the numbers required. (If you want to calculate fps numbers that is fine, just remember that it is required that you double measured fps to obtain actual.) http://wallaceracing.com/ca-calc.php http://wallaceracing.com/chokepoint-rpm.php |
