Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
What those guys said. I don't even like the trucks normally, but that is beautiful!
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Looks great. Can we use fab 9 housings in SuperStock now?
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Awesome Truck!!!! What engine combo are you running?
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Love it!!
Dave - That was going to be my question, too. What is the rule regarding fabricated housings? I thought that was a no-no. I don't have my rulebook handy, so hopefully, someone can clarify. |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
have rule bok handy. It states.....entirely custom fabricated rear-end housing prohibited.
My question was how does that hood pass tech?? Very nice truck though hope it hauls a** |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Marky , best of luck ! The truck looks awsome . It was great to see you back in the seat and excited last week . Sure wish I could run a cowl hood in SS/GT like you Blankedy blank modified trucks !

Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Very clean Mark! Can't wait to see it in person. Are you going to make it to Epping this weekend?
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
I think if you look around, there a few cars running SS/GT and using a cowl hood...in NHRA

Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Wow! That's an amazing job then. There must be added bracing along the back of it too?? Looks completely fabricated...even the fill plug on top!!
Doesn't look like the housing is rounded in the back at all either. ??? |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Beautiful truck. As for the housing - we all know that you cannot run a fabricated housing. And, if you think they won't check - NHRA made me change the one in my GT/B Beretta and also checked our FJ Smith Firebird - came to the conclusion that his housing wasn't totally fabricated and let it pass.

Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
I think it has to have the factory pumpkin, the tubes are not original I believe. Gonna have to take a pic of mine to compare. My first time out last year I was questioned by a couple of racers. Passed tech everytime. I am going to have to ask him, don't want to put my foot in my mouth.

Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Larry - I sure think a guy would want to avoid any "grey" area as much as possible. If there's ever any question, they usually send you home to think about how to correct it! :-) That truck is eye-popping...hope all goes well.

Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Mark, It looks great, see you Saturday
Others-It is a SS/TB which is a modified truck, not a GT truck and the rearend rule and hood rule are different i believe. Dave |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Truck is beautiful....is Mark the Mark Markow of CT....he does excellent work if it is....worked on my camaro...great guy to do business with.
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Beautiful workmanship but I asked and was specifically told NO "fabbed" housings in SS Modified. That would seriously piss me off if that's not the case. Oh well, too late now.

But, IF this housing is truly a "Fab'd Housing" (which it's hard to tell from this small thumbnail photo)... My opinion is there's so much "bogus bs" in stk / ss anymore, a fab'd housing in a super stock modified vehicle should be considered a non-issue. There are lots more serious infractions out there than this. Larry |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
let me clear some stuff up. yes i'm mark from markow race cars. and the truck was built as a modified . a cowl hood is allowed , as well as the fab housing. the fab rear is not legal for s/s or gt . but anyway the rear in the truck is legal it,s not a fully fabbed housing. is was built from a stamped ford center available thru strange eng. the back cover as well as the tubes were changed and it's got plenty of bracing on it'. from what i was told in the past by nhra the only part of the rear that needs to remain original is stamped surface where the 3rd member bolts too . hope that clears it up. i,m not trying to cuase any conflict . just want to have some at the track with all my freinds and customers

Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Check page 128 in 2009 Rulebook which is different than page 116. Looks like anything after Modified Stock is allowed a fabricated rear. IMO but that maybe too gray!

I agree, very nice looking piece! |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Saw the truck at the ASRA race @ NED & at the LVD divisional.
Pictures really don't show the craftsmanship and attention to detail that MM incorporated into this vehicle! That thing sounds as good as it looks! Congratulations on building a vehicle that not only looks good but runs good! |
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
thanks guys. i'm glad everyone likes it.
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
Now that's a gorgeous ride!
|
Re: finished my new ss/tb truck
That's very nice ! Hat's off to you and your craftsmanship, and the attention to the details !
