Live from Norwalk!

We arrived in the Lender's Lot around 11:30 pm last night. There almost wasn't room to park! Lots of people here already. We left home yesterday and drove the 540 miles in less than 12 hours after 2 business stops on the way. We came up Route 13 thru Mansfield and if you come that way be sure and follow the truck route. We went in a circle after I told Larry to turn when we shouldn't have. It looks like there is still a detour on 250 but it is not very far out of the way. That still may be the best way although coming thru Mansfield is closer.

It looks like they are putting everyone in Lenders Lot first, but there is a big sign on the road that directs "Participants".

Well, we are up and ready to eat breakfast and get parked. They are supposed to start parking at 10.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you guys from Division 1. Come on over. We have the pink Cuda.

More later.

Patsy

BTW, AT&T phone service here is not very good, so reports may be few and far between, but I will do my best.

Re: Live from Norwalk!

Well, we are only a couple of rows away from getting moved on in to park. I met Steve Welker and his wife Debbie this morning. I saw a picture of their son Matt's new SS/AH car. Really pretty. And it is a stick car. They are planning on running it in the hemi shootout at Indy. Lance Line is in the next row over. I think he is putting out a contract on Terry Nagel for telling him it was only 4 hours from Joliet to Norwalk. He said it was over 800 miles for him to here.

Well, more later.

Oh the weather is really nice. Bright and sunny and a little hot. I think it is supposed to be high 80's today.

Lance must have gone home to Minnesota. Norwalk is not 800 miles from Joliet

as always, thanks, Patsy! looking forward to whatever you can post to keep us updated. I love Norwalk, just live to far away to get there except once every 10 years or so for the Buick race!

Re: Live from Norwalk!

Stock is out 1st in the morning at 9. We get 2 qualifying runs, then run Class.

We have a great pit spot. We can even see the scoreboards from here. Larry says he hasn't had this good a spot since a points race sometime in the 80's. Thanks to Gary for getting us a good spot.

Lots of stockers here close: Boster, Shaul, Bennett, Fisher, McGee, Line, Feist, Hawk, Bureski.

Others I've seen: Marshall, 3 McCormacks, Wenzel, 2 Welkers, Sepanek.

Well more later. I think we are going to cook some cabbage and kelbasa.

Well folks, I thought this would never happen. The picture below is Larry with his arms around me and Bill Hawk. Now before everyone thinks the Larry is friends with me and Bill, look at his hands very close. I can assure he has a tight grip on me and Bill, we had no choice. Sorry for the picture quality.

Kenny -- Quality of the picture ? I don't think so -- that photo had to be a ' touched-up ' deal as the three of you have never agree on anything let alone taking a picture together .Its good that you fellas are bonding ...what a Kodak moment ! ! ....maybe you can make plans for an Indy bar-b-q or something .Play nice this morning boys ..................

Per Mom this morning, starting line is HORRIBLE. They made a couple of stocker runs then stopped to make the starting line better. She'll post more latter.

Also, is Miele a levitation artist? All I can see is his head bobbing up and down :)

Re: Live from Norwalk!

After sitting in the scorching sun to watch 90 something stockers go down, I have now got back to the motorhome to the air conditioning and I may not go back out again. The starting line was absolutely horrible this morning. They have new sealant and I think they decided that everyone was getting that on their tires and then spinning. They attempted to run about 30 cars with stopping in between and doing something else to the track and then finally stopped and scraped everything. They let those first 30 or so get another run, but it still was really terrible. There may have been 10 cars that made a decent run. We had a 1.43 60' and ran 10.55 in A/SA. We thought we would be middle of the pack in A/SA but we are way at the bottom. Larry is re-jetting now. The air is absolutely horrible also. I will get the exact figures after I cool off.

Now for the picture--I thought that was a good one of all 3 of them. Contrary to popular belief, we do like Bill and Ken. Larry even had breakfast with Bill this morning. I didn't get over in time. His friend Mr. Eddie Cook is a great cook so I hear. Very nice man, too. I talked with him a bunch last night.

Well more later.

sounds a little shakey out there...........and maybe a little more shakey for some of the other classes.
It was also posted some where about a bump in the track? any word there ?

Thanks for the "Live " stuff...........................nice for the folks that can't make the race..

Keep Cool

Just got back from 2nd run. Most everyone picked up a little. The track was a little better then. We have class in just a few minutes.

More later.

Re: Live from Norwalk!

Well, we won the first round of class. Dinkel spun worse than we did. In A/SA==Boster beat Wilkes, Ficaci beat Duell, Fletcher beat Grubbs, Boburka had the bye, Line beat Bailey. In AA/SA---Pendarvis redlighted against Shaul, Miele b eat Barton and then we left.

For those of you who remember Byron, IIL a few years ago, it is almost that bad here. Debbie Boster, Jan Fuller and I were sitting in the stands dying in the heat keeping times and then I said "We can print these rounds of class off DRC so we came back to the air conditioning.

Sorry but it is just too hot!!

We run again shortly.

More later.

Hi there, Bill IS a nice guy if talking about Hawk and Mr. Cook IS a great chef. He is always cooking for everyone when we go places. He is the nicest man you'll ever meet and will do anything for anyone. The reason I know this is because he is my Father. Anyway, I can't wait to meet all of you. My first race was when I was 3 years old. Just ask Dad and he'll tell you. P.S. I was the one that said here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus...Have a great weekend. Dad told me on the phone that you were a really nice man. See, everyone just needs to get along and quit the trash talking. :D

Well Boster beat us on the tree and outran us but just barely. The loser had to shuck the corn for supper. Lance Line blew the tires off.

Is Bill or Eddie your dad? Both are nice men.

Well, more later.

Here is a picture of my car and Rock Haas in tech this morning. Its a super nice ride, man I'm jealous. I wanted to post early in the day, but class was more work than I thought it would be.

I should have been beat in the first round of class by David Barton. David Barton has to be the fastest AA car in the country right now along with John Shaul. I don't care what the CJ's are running, they have not won Class and so until they beat someone, David and John are the cars to beat. David spun pretty bad, so I was able to move to the next round. My car was not running the way I thought it should have. We only had 3 runs on the engine so I was hoping every run it would get quicker. Special thanks to David Barton for helping me cool the car down after his lost to me. Also thanks to Bill Hawk, If not for him I would have never been here.

The final round of class for AA had me and John. The air was about 4400ft, with a barometer of 28.89 and the temp 95. We picked the up car a few more hundreds, but had nothing for the old Fox. Every time we race class John always has something for me. Had lots of fun, even without the class win, great job John.

I'm sure Patsy and Larry have more to add to the happenings at Norwalk, this is just a little part of my story.

Stolen from DRC:

Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
1044 John Shaul 1656 Ken Miele
C3 ****WINNER**** 0.061 10.052 130.81 0.016 10.116 130.47
AA/SA Index: 10.90 (+/-): -0.848 AA/SA Index: 10.90 (+/-): -0.784
Prior rounds:
Qualified: #43 10.110 129.94 #64 10.240 128.59

This is for the AA/SA trophy. Miele made a race of it, but John Shaul's MOV: 0.0198 seconds (approximately 4 feet).

Looks like you gave him a pretty good run there.

After the rain last night the computer did not want to get on line. Sorry I didn't get anything posted. Yesterday was a day like Byron, IL of the US Class Nationals. Way too hot!

Today is starting out hot, too! But at least we made it thru 1st round. Ran "the Terminator", Peter Biondo. And we won! And the crowd went wild! And then Randy Wilkes beat Dan Fletcher heads up! And the crowd went wild!

We obviously are having a great time! We run 2nd round in just a little while.

So more later.

A crowd watching Stock Eliminator?
How many thousands would you guess?

Good job in the second round;
The crowd out here is going wild.

Re: Live from Norwalk!

Hey, we won again! This is really a lot more fun when we are winning! It is still hot out there today, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. It was 88 when we made that last run.

Well there will definitely be someone in round 4 of stock from Hickory, KY. We have to run our neighbor Jerry Bennett next round. A Mopar will win!!

They will be running pros before long. Went for a little ride around the pits a little while ago. Saw Judy McCormack. She is driving well.

Well more later. I think we will go and get some of that $1 ice cream!
