Live from Numidia-NHRA PC RichardsNatOpen
After an easy three hour drive I got within 5 miles of the track and you guessed it -- thats right -- after a few weeks off and my shoes finally dried out -- bang -- big lightning and thundershowers .Seems to follow racers around this year--- matter where we go in D1 it has to rain .Soon it will be Fall and we will have had no Summer at all to speak of .
Anyway its better to be here in the rain than at work . Tomorrow its to be very nice here in the Pocono Mountains and we should get this in OK .What I'm really surprised about is the amount of cars here -- don't know how many yet but the place is full -- some are the Friday night crowd but there are plenty of NHRA regulars pitted . If the show gets completed on time Saturday then Sunday a Stock / SuperStock program will be run -- a double header of sorts if you will .Great deal for us . I'll try and get you some headlines and maybe a picture or two .......later . PS - This weekend the NHRA crew here will be a little shorthanded as our Stock / SS guru Dave Ley is on the mend from recent surgery -- spoke with him and already he has 'cabin' fever but is doing well and will be back in action in a few weeks -- we miss you Dave -- get well buddy ! ! And be sure to mind Nurse Gloria .......... |

Com'mon Jack, We don't got no hillbillies here in PA
|
Re: Live from Numidia-NHRA PC RichardsNatOpen
...probably some local carpenters that are building a house just down the street and grabbed the 2x4's from the jobsite to construct their tower. "MORE BEER".....:D WJ

Re: Live from Numidia-NHRA PC RichardsNatOpen
Thanks for the update Jack and as usual always a great job. I'll have to watch this one from the sidelines here at home but wishing I was there. I was hoping to feel well enough to make the trip just to see everyone but it's just too soon after surgery. Nurse Gloria is doing her usual fantastic job and says hello.

Well you can tell in a second that those are northern rednecks. No self respecting southern redneck would EVER put a railings on his platform. Railings are for WIMPS.

Re: Live from Numidia-NHRA PC RichardsNatOpen
Saturday morning is here and what a difference a day makes -- eleven am and the temp is already 82 with the humidity at 52 % and the barometer at a whopping 28.87 not to mention the final DA at 3479 .But the Sun is shining and we got out first time trial in - not bad considering -- track was pretty good and not many complained .
Don't have a car count yet but it looks a like a pretty nice field all things considered ...... |

Time trial # 2 went off without hitch and everyone is smiling -- looks like about forty stockers - can't get that confirmed -- S/S count is very low - don't understand that .
This area is very pretty if you're into it and today's a picture perfect example ........ PS-- the picture in the middle shows the # 1 qualifier-- AA/SA 2010 Firebird ( LS7 Powered ) on its maiden voyage . OK - so I forgot to take my meds this morning but I can dream can't I ? |
Re: Live from Numidia-NHRA PC RichardsNatOpen

First round of Stock is in -- no big surprises other than some dialed for a big tailwind that didn't help them ( see picture below of NHRA's scale area w/ large paperweights ) .S/S coming up -- around 15 of them for first round .
Eddie - Yes , that is in fact George Cottell in person .Another sighting was that of John Pressing -his first this year ? Joey -- what's your excuse ? why aren't you here ? Gary -- Sorry to hear about the rain in Columbus - glad I didn't go as planned -- keep us informed as to whats happening . Almost forgot -- total car count --172 paid . |

Billy Belden shifts his way into the winners circle here at Numidia over Ken Robinson . SuperStock won by Stirling Simmons who told me only a few hours ago that he was done with S/S -- maybe now he'll change his mind .

Ya know Jack, your "Live from wherever in D1" is most entertaining, great pictures and comments. I am still very fond of the D1 and D2 tracks. Glad to hear that Mr Presing was out, hope he did well.
Thanks for the giggles, Charlie Allen 7423 O/SA |

For those of you wondering how our friend George Cottell is doing this afternoon I got him to stand still long enough for a pic and as you will see he's fine -- just has been too busy to race .
After losing early today a friend took me out to lunch between rounds and while we were out stopped at Knoebels Family Park located about five miles from the track .If you've got kids plan for next year to come early and visit this place -- you won't believe it -- its huge -- check out a few pics I took and look on the web -- then plan -- you won't be sorry . Charlie -- One of these days you'll have to return for a visit . And thanks for the kind words . |

Re: Live from Numidia-NHRA PC RichardsNatOpen
Larry, Lance is retired from the PD for about 10 years and is on the senior golf tour. Had dinner with him tonight and he said to say hello. Still calls me at the races, works on my car and as usual give me driving tips. Lance thinks the drag racing world should only be stick shift cars, I told him he is in the sun too long playing with his putter.lol
