New here, not a class racer yet, just a huge fan and Mopar man!!!

Tom, is Terry Dye's Barracuda a 273-235HP combo? And does the SC Rambler have a 390? I'm surprised by the "M" on the window. I thought if it did it would fit somewhere around F-H automatic?

Not sure on either question..... was too busy shooting photos (and racing).
I just called it a "rambler scrambler" when i noticed the hood scoop.

Tom, thanks for the quick reply.
I don't think you're wrong on the ScRambler as I believe only the 390 cars had the scoop, just surprised it's in "M".

Seems to me that, without checking the class guide, a 290 4V should fit there roughly, and maybe we're wading into "is this hood legal" territory.

I think Todd is correct. Brian and Roger Fain run a 290 cid, 220 hp motor in an SS/M AMX (ran L/S and M/S previously with it). I would guess this is the same motor.

I hate to pee on anybodies corn flakes but the scoop is legal only on a69 S/CRambler 390 stick combo,which is a C/S combo.The car in the pic is being claimed as a 68..

Just to make this more fun, the only Hemi B Bodies (other than the 63-65's) that came with a hood scoop were the '67 RO Dodge and Ply. HARDTOPS, no sedans came with a hood scoop.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder about Darts with 340s, 383s and 440s running class with a flat hood? The power bulge hood is not ram air, but I don't think cars with those engines were available with a flat hood. There are a couple running flat hoods, so I guess it must be acceptable. The power bulge hood is now available in steel in the aftermarket.

I guess we live in a world where rules are meant to be ignored.Sure was different when I was growing up.
Maybe those movies as a kid of the future where people walked around like robots wasn't really science fiction after all.God help our grandkids and beyond.
